From the city league to the AVCTL, the state of Kansas is full of talented players in all positions. Watch out for some of these players just for starters.
Addison Wood
Addison Wood
Addison, the campus F/G has good size and strength for her stature. She knows how to move defenders out of her way and get to her favorite spots on the court. The lefty will be taking on a heavy load for Campus having to score and defend the full game, it’ll be an interesting year to see if Wood can become a leader in addition to the skill set she brings.
Val has been a huge asset to the Wellington Crusaders program. She’s talented on and off the ball and has an extremely high IQ. The experience she’s gained from over the year of playing really shows oftentimes looking like she’s 10 steps ahead of her opponent. She’s a great defender, loves to catch and knock down the jumper, and can finish at the rim as well. Norwood hasn’t fully reached her potential yet and if she decides to really tap into it, watch out!
Marley the post-player has developed really nicely over the last few years! Her size has always given her the advantage but her skill set and moves under the rim have taken a huge leap. What’s nice about Isabel’s game is her ability to shoot jumpers beyond the paint. Her shooting touch allows her to stretch the defenders away from the paint and open up the driving lane for her guards.
Kennadi is one of the state’s best guards; if you watch her you’ll see exactly why. She’s extremely quick with the ball and with the combination of her handles, she can get to any spot she wants to on the floor. Recently picking up the offer from Wichita State after an impressive showing at the elite camp, you can expect more to come. With her elite handles that can leave a defender in a heartbeat, she also has a nice jumper to go with that. Her scoring ability is at such a high level because she can create her own shot.
Sadie started the season off with an impressive 31 points in the game and finished with a double-double! That wasn’t the only thing that was impressive, the double-double came from her 12 steals putting her in the school record book for the most steals in one game! We all know that Sadie can shoot the lights out of the gym if you let her but what some probably didn’t know is that she does it on both ends of the floor. Her knack for the ball is amazing to watch because of her impeccable timing in playing the passing and stealing it from you in on-ball situations. It’s safe to say that if you see her on one side of the court it’s best if you do the other way.
