We attended the Corona Centennial vs Los Osos game this evening and we saw some good basketball and some even better players on both sides of the benches. These kids got after it and put on a show for us to watch as we sat high up in the stands so we could be a good look and see the whole gym as we watch these kids. Los Osos came out on the floor taking charge of this game, they were attacking the basket and shooting long range threes to get the lead in this game. They kept Centennial at bay for the first and secong quarter, but in the third and fourth quarters, Centennial took control back with stellar play from their post presence and lead guards. We were surprised to see some of the skillset displayed by these girls and we will be talking about the ones that stood out to us. Here we go.

Corona Centennial (3-5) vs. Los Osos (6-4)
Corona Centennial HS Gynasium
Game Time: 7pm
Centennial HS 55, Los Osos 49

1st Quarter: Los Osos 17, Centennial 13
2nd Quarter: Los Osos 30, Centennial 29
3rd Quarter: Centennial 44, Los Osos 38
4th Quarter: Centennial 55, Los Osos 49

2026, 5'6, CG, Los Osos HS, [player_tooltip player_id='574422' first='Jackie' last='Polk']

Jackie is a straight stone-cold killer on the floor, she can give you minutes at the point guard position and she can definitely give you minutes as a scoring guard, which is her specialty. This kid ended the game with 30 points last night on probably (5/7) from the three point line. She gives dimes to teammates to get easy buckets and she is very skilled at handling the ball and not being picked in the open floor. This kid has a quick trigger on her shot and she was pulling up from about 27ft and it was nothing but twine whenever she got a good look at the basket. She will be highlighted in my "Those Who Can Shoot It" article later on this month, she put on a show and it was exciting to watch.

2025, 5'7, CG, Los Osos HS, [player_tooltip player_id='570450' first='Destinee' last='Knight']

Destinee is another cold guard that I had the pleasure to watch last night, she also is a dynamic scorer and we loved watching her last night as well. She is very skilled with her ball handling, she weaved her way into the paint and also got loose to make some shots from behind the arc. She knocked down a step-back three pointer in the beginning of the game that was really nice. She defended well and was a good rebounding guard on the floor that could advance the ball and get it to teammates for easy scores. We loved her leadership and she is guard that has a very high IQ on the floor, coaches take notice, she can play.

2024, 5'7, SG, Centennial HS, Paris Bandy

Paris showed me yesterday that she has developed herself a nice game, she is swinging thru and taking one dribble and popping the jumpshot consistently. She makes it look effortless, I almost wish she would get the ball more to take more shots, she would definitely hit them at a high clip. She has a nice strong body and she can run up and down the floor and catch and shoot with soft hands and consistency. She defended well too, she kept her opponents in front and contained them on the floor from scoring the basketball, she got up on her opponent and pressured them to give up the ball. Loved her game....

2024, 5'7, SG, Centennial HS, [player_tooltip player_id='756881' first='Aniyah' last='Offutt']

Aniyah is an aggressive guard that like to put pressure on the defense by attacking the paint and getting to the rim for easy buckets. She can shoot the midrange out to the three point line, but her main focus is taking her defender to the rim and finishing thru contact as well. She got to the line a few times, but most drives she finished at the rim with ease by blowing by her defenders. She knocked down a three pointer from the floor and had nice stroke on her shot, she is still developing that part of her game, but it looked good from start to finish.
