The MVP Of The Week is an individual that displayed what it means to put on a major performance/s for their perspective squad throughout the week. Someone who came out firing on all cylinders and dominated in more ways than one on the hardwood while putting up an eye-opening stat line.
The Players Of The Week are other individuals that were in consideration for the MVP of the week but fell just short in the end when taking into consideration all outlying factors.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
MVP Of The Week
- 12/22/23 vs Omaha NW – 31 Points (12-19), 8 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 2 Steals
To end off the the first half of the regular season on a positive end going into break, Elkhorn South High School recorded a dominant victory on Friday night. A big part of the Storms success in this one is due in part to the efforts of Freshman – Mollie Probasco Mollie Probasco 5'10" | SF Elkhorn South | 2027 NE . In this specific contest, Probasco scored 30 Points on 12-19 shooting, grabbed 8 rebounds, and facilitated 4 assists. The first few games this year has been an all around learning experience for everyone on this roster but something that has been consistent is the play of Probasco. She has athleticism, a long reach with lengthy arms, great reaction time, and some strategic knowledge of the game. That was on full display on Friday and has been on display from the beginning on the year. Other than Probasco, the rest of this Elkhorn South roster is a little older and more experienced. They will try to come out of break riding the momentum from this one and continue to build.
Players Of The Week
- 12/19/23 @ Benton – 17 Points (6-9), 11 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 2 Blocks
On Thursday night Dani Coyer Dani Coyer 6'1" | C Bellevue West | 2024 State NE ended up posting another double-double in her teams 10 point victory against Benton High School. Coyer, a 6’2-6’3 Center, did everything you’d expect her too. In the paint she was taking up space and making meaningful moves, she was scoring at high and efficient rates offensively by going 6-9 from the floor shooting the ball, and she was rebounding like crazy. Didn’t matter if it was offensively or defensively, she was boxing out and going up for boards with calculated aggression. Coyer is the type of player to be able to translate her game to the next level. She may still have a few months left of high school ball but trust me, she is ready to have that next step.
- 12/19/23 vs Concordia – 22 Points (9-22), 5 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 11 Steals, 3 TO’s
Ever since Emerson Timm Emerson Timm 5'6" | PG Arlington | 2026 State NE ‘s Freshman season, she has been constant in the production for her Arlington team. Timm is a skilled guard that understands her role to a T. During this past AAU season, you could tell that Timm was a smart player by the way that she adapted to her surroundings. During high school ball she has to be the main piece for her team to compete, in AAU it’s much different. She had several other players around her who could hoop so she was put in charge of setting up their teams offensive and that is what she did. When you have changed like this throughout the different types of seasons, you can start to tell when someone understands how to play this game on several different levels. Against Concordia on Tuesday, Timm understood the assignment and dominated, leading her team to a 51-36 victory. All in all, this isn’t the first time you have heard of Timm and it won’t be the last.
- 12/21/23 vs Omaha South – 27 Points (10-19), 7 Rebounds, 1 Assists, 3 Steals, 1 TO’s
A’yanna Hil is one of the most skilled players throughout her perspective Class, throughout the state. She has speed, a silky-smooth dribble, a balanced attack at all three levels offensively, and a tenacity on defense. In Hill’s Thursday night contest, she scored 27 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, along with posting some other positive stats in the book. In the end, her team came out with the victory and everyone is satisfied moving into break. Hill’s skill is unmatched in a lot of ways. If she were to be put in the correct system, she could definitely produce at the collegiate level. She has all the intangibles, it’s just about producing on the court now. Which honestly, Hill has always done and I don’t expect that to slow down anytime soon.
Madeline McChesney
- 12/21/23 @ Ralston – 14 Points (5-6), 9 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 4 Steals, 2 Blocks, 1 TO
This is the first time that I have featured Madeline McChesney but she put on quite the performance on Thursday evening for her RC High School team. McChesney took the court and scored 14 points on 5-6 shooting, grabbed 9 rebounds, created 4 turnovers, and she even pulled put 2 major blocks in her teams 40+ point win against Ralston. The best was to describe McChesney’s game is patient and physical. She uses her natural size to create space early on in possessions and that a big reasons as to why she has so much success. It usually takes teams a handful of possessions to create a plan to stop McChesney inside the lane but it doesn’t seem to work too often. Like I said above, this is my first time having a chance to see her play but from what I did see, she has a good head on her shoulders and she does some positive things that help her teammates, each and every contest.
