I wouldn’t be surprised to see these players have even bigger impacts later on in the year and even become go-to players for their teams in years to come.
Kaleesa Howard
Kaleesa Howard
Howard showed a lot of natural ability and feel on the court, and for a guard with some size and strength already, she has a really smooth handle and great maneuverability through defenses. She showed her youth with a few turnovers just getting ahead of herself but she has all the tools to be a special player down the line. She’s got great feet, good potential with her jumper, and plays tough defense too, showing some good two-way ability.
Jayden Lewis
Jayden Lewis
I didn’t see a ton of Lewis but when she was on the court it was easy to see the potential with the freshman forward. She moves well, has the size to compete on the glass, and showed a nice stroke splashing in a corner three. She’s a player to watch in the coming years and definitely one I want to catch up with again this season.
The sophomore wing was one of the top shooters from the event and was deadly from the corners. Her teammates knew exactly where to find her, and she punished Lynden Christian just about every time they left her alone behind the arc. She’ll be a key player as Sumner looks to make another run into the state tournament.

Shameela Isabell

Isabell was another player who didn’t make a ton of noise on the floor, but when she did have the ball you got to see some serious potential. She’s a taller point who’s shifty with the ball, super-fast in the open court, and has some good finishing moves in the paint and a decent lefty shot that could develop into a pretty good threat from deep.
Jacee Harrison
Jacee Harrison
I watched Harrison warm up and she looked to be a pretty good shooter from downtown. When gametime rolled around she was able to apply it to game situations, doing a good job off the ball to get open and in different spots around the arc to make herself available for skips and kickouts. She’s a solid defender too and showed some ability to handle the rock.
The 5-foot-10 guard is a longer backcourt player who was able to knock down some outside shots but looked best going to the hoop and splitting defenders with some good footwork. Tahoma was a tough team to score against inside and Fritts had to fight for space by the hoop but she shows some good promise as a player who can score a little from inside and out.
