Dahl is one of the best prospects in the state of any age, and considering the fact that she is only a freshman, it will be extremely fun to continue to watch her grow and develop throughout her career. Standing at 5’11, she has incredible length and combine that with her athleticism, great ball handling, and beautiful shot, she makes for one of the most difficult matchups for other guards to try and handle. In their game against Westview that I watched, she had 18 points — including 4 3-pointers — 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals, and that is only the third game of her high school career.

Also in that game, Lauren Buchanan Lauren Buchanan 5’8″ | PG Forest Grove | 2024 State OR set the tone for the Vikings and really impressed with her mature point guard play. She had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists, and a steal showing how she is really someone who is everywhere on the court doing it all for her team. She is a natural floor general who constantly has her eyes up, looking to set up her teammates to score, yet she was not afraid to step up and hit big shots for the Vikings precisely when they needed it. Buchanan’s high basketball IQ and her patience on the floor became very obvious from only a few minutes of watching her, demonstrating why she is the anchor for that team.

On the other side of the floor, Westview’s Kaleah Medeiros Kaleah Medeiros 5’8″ | CG Westview | 2024 State OR also played an impressive game and she and her senior leadership were big reasons why the Wildcats were still in it for so long. She is a long, athletic guard who excelled at pushing the ball up in transition and breaking Forest Grove’s press with her dribble. She also knocked down some huge shots for the Wildcats with her beautiful shot, finishing with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal before she exited the game with an injury. Medeiros is just the type of smart, talented guard that you would want playing for you.
Berlynn Carlson
Berlynn Carlson
Carlson is another nightmare for other guards to match up against with her 6’3 frame and her incredible abilities to shoot and handle the ball. In their game against that I watched, she hit three 3’s on her way to 17 points and 6 rebounds and in the game against Wells earlier this week, she had 16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 7 steals. As mentioned, she has a knockdown shot from the outside and her length allows her to make great finishes around the rim as well as create tips and steals defensively. She will be a huge factor in Liberty’s success this season.
As only a sophomore, Emmee Kinder Emmee Kinder 5’10” | PF Valley Catholic | 2026 State OR is already showing incredible moments in the post and it will be very fun to see how she will continue to improve as she continues to work on her game. In last night’s game versus Neah-Kah-Nie, she demonstrated some great footwork and finishing ability around the rim, had a couple of monster blocks, and thrived at the back of Valley’s suffocating full-court press. Last week against Yamhill-Carlton, she put up 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and a block to help the Valiants to a win. Kinder shows potential to be the kind of player who could soon be averaging a double-double for Valley Catholic every game.
