The Breakdown Tip Off Classic is always the premier in-season event of the girls high school basketball campaign in Minnesota, and the 2023 edition was no exception. We saw so many great performances that it is difficult to pick a Top 10. That’s why we’ll extend this collection of elite players into a second story to follow in a day or two. For now, these were the best of the best.
First a small piece of housekeeping: Most of the individual statistics used here are courtesy of our friend, Reggie Becker, the math whiz from Michigan who runs Midwest Recruiting Resource. Reggie is one of the most respected scouts around, and he has encyclopedic knowledge of prospects from across the Midwest. Reggie crunched the Breakdown numbers from his courtside perch all weekend. If you want access to Reggie’s perspective, along with restaurant reviews from the road, give him a follow on Twitter: @The MRR7. Now on to the Top 10.
TOP 10 PERFORMANCES
Maddyn Greenway Maddyn Greenway 5'8" | PG Providence Academy | 2026 State MN – What can you say about the 2026 guard from Providence Academy that hasn’t already been said? Frankly, we are running out of superlatives for Greenway, who is off to a torrid start again this season. She outdid herself in the win against Hortonville, Wisconsin, posting 43 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals while going 12-for-12 at the free throw line. Maddyn is averaging 39.7 points per game.
Rainey Welson – “Anything you can do, I can do better.” That was the vibe from the Hortonville, Wisconsin standout during Saturday’s encounter with Greenway, who is her AAU teammate at North Tartan . Ranked #1 in Wisconsin’s Class of 2025, and holding an array of high-major collegiate offers, this uber-strong, ultra-talented junior did it all, knocking down 7 threes for 41 points along with 3 assists and 5 steals.
Addison Mack Addison Mack 5'9" | PG Minnehaha Academy | 2025 State MN – Speaking of great starts to the high school season, how about the level of play we’ve seen so far from the Minnehaha Academy junior ranked #4 in Minnesota’s Class of 2025. On Saturday against the Perham Yellowjackets, Mack made 16 field goals and scored 41 points in an 82-45 victory. So far for the undefeated Redhawks, Mack is averaging 31.4 ppg. She is a truly elite talent also holding high-major offers.
Aneisha Scott Aneisha Scott 5'6" | PG DeLaSalle | 2025 State MN – For the second weekend in a row, the DeLaSalle point guard did what she does best – put on a show and get a W. One of the most entertaining players in the state, this dynamic D1 prospect led the Islanders to a 74-64 victory over Class 3A state contenders Alexandria. Facing Hadley Thul Hadley Thul 6'2" | SG Alexandria | 2025 State MN and a cadre of quality guards, Aneisha posted 36 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assist and 6 steals while going 15-for-16 in free throws.
Tori Schlagel Tori Schlagel 5'9" | CG Eden Prairie | 2025 State MN – Some questioned how well Eden Prairie would do this year given the Eagles’ lack of height. Nobody ever questions Schlagel. This do-it-all guard did it all once again on Saturday in a convincing 76-52 victory over Andover. Schlagel went 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and tallied 23 points with 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. The 6th-rated prospect in Minnesota’s junior class made an early commitment to the University of South Dakota.
Jordan Ode Jordan Ode 5'11" | CG Maple Grove | 2025 State MN – Like Schlagel, Ode is the Swiss Army knife for Maple Grove. She can play any position and fulfill any role at either end of the court. She is the Crimson’s leader by example, vocal leader, scoring leader, rebounding leader… you get the picture. Against Eastview in Friday night’s opening contest, Jordan posted 30 points and 9 rebounds. With the game on the line in the final minute, she made two big plays to seal the deal. The #3-rated prospect in the Class of 2025 has already committed to Michigan State.
Tori Oehrlein Tori Oehrlein 5'10" | CG Crosby-Ironton | 2026 State MN – Is there anything that the 5’11 all-state guard from Crosby-Ironton can’t do? We’ve been watching it for years. Last season, as a 9th grader, Oehrlein totaled a stunning 998 points and scoring isn’t even what she does best. That’s a career’s worth for a superior high school player! She topped the 30-point mark 19 times, including 5 games over 40. Tori is rolling along at a similar pace now, including a 37-point performance on Saturday against a strong Sauk Centre squad. Oh yeah, she’s a heckuva defender.
Finley Ohnstad Finley Ohnstad 6'1" | SF Lakeville South | 2024 State MN – The 6’1 senior from Lakeville South has always been able to shoot the basketball, but what we saw from Ohnstad on Friday night against Wayzata was at a whole other level. In the first half, it seemed she simply could not miss and finished the period with 28 points. She cooled off a little in the second half, finishing the game with a career-best 45, including 9 three-pointers. Now in her 5th season as a Cougars’ starter, Finley has signed with Kansas State.
Kaitlyn Rohloff Kaitlyn Rohloff 5'8" | PG Hancock | 2025 State MN – The crafty point guard from Hancock led the Owls to the Class A state championship two years ago as a 9th grader. On Saturday evening against Goodhue, Rohloff and her teammates looked like they are poised to make a similar run in 2023-24. Ranked #33 in the Class of 2025, Kaitlyn is a cerebral floor general who runs the offense with aplomb and skill. She played 36 minutes, going 9-for-17 from the field, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range for 22 points with 5 steals.
Morgan Staloch Morgan Staloch 6'0" | PF Jordan | 2026 State MN – Coming off a great summer in AAU, expectations are high for the 2026 Top 10 prospect from Jordan. The good news is the 6-footer is meeting and exceeding those standards while averaging 22 ppg, 10 more than her typical total a year ago. The Jaguars are off to a 4-0 start following a win over Visitation at the Tip Off, a game in which Morgan scored 28 points, and Staloch (pronounced Stah-low) has been nothing short of brilliant.
