I’ve been talking all fall about how much I like the play of DeSmit, and she didn’t disappoint in her first game of the season. She helped lead her team to a 60-52 win over East Grand Rapids with a 31-point, six-rebound performance. She had some clutch free throws at the end of the game. She is in store for a big junior season!
Abney had an amazing start to her senior season, helping her team defeat Kearsley 71-57. She had an impressive game, scoring 36 points, grabbing five rebounds, and making five steals while also dishing out two assists.
Highlights
McWilliams was instrumental in leading her team to two victories this week against Mount Clemens and Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse. In the season opener, she finished with an impressive 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 steals. She is truly an underrated player who can fill the stat sheet on any given night.
Gleason’s team finished with two tough losses this week. She did a little bit of everything to try to help her team. She had a 21-point, nine rebounds, and five blocks in the season-opener and then finished up the week with a double-double of 15 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks.
Highlights
Hairston played a crucial role in leading her team to victory in two important matches against Holly and Clio this week. In the first game of the season, she scored an impressive 19 points and managed to grab three crucial offensive rebounds while also making three steals. It’s safe to say that the talented sophomore point guard has had an excellent start to the season!
Williams was a key player in her team’s success this week, which included victories over Lenawee Christian and Battle Creek St. Phillip. In the season opener, she put up impressive numbers with 23 points, six rebounds, six assists, five steals, and a block. She followed up that performance with another solid showing, contributing 20 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and three blocks. This senior had an outstanding first week!
