The Breakdown Granite City Classic is the biggest and (in our opinion) the best of the holiday basketball tournaments in Minnesota. What better time and place for players to make it clear that they are getting better. With plenty of college coaches on hand, and more watching live and on replay via NSPN, these five players raised their stock at Granite City.

The Delano Tigers are off to a blazing start this season with a record of 11-0. We last saw them at the Breakdown Tip Off Classic, where they took down Stewartville in a 22-point win. The hot streak continued this weekend, where our first stock riser [player_tooltip player_id='458302' first='Abbie' last='Pietila'] had two outstanding performances. On Friday night, the 5'8 guard was impacting the game all over the floor, contributing 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. As the Tigers' primary floor general, the top 20 prospect was crucial in leading her team to the 55-50 win over Prior Lake. Pietila plays with a ton of confidence and stays cool under pressure, even when faced with a full court press or a pair of free throws when the game is on the line. In Saturday's game against Brainerd she finished with 17 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='589282' first='Cassie' last='Wegman'] – 2026 forward, Delano

Also from the Tigers is sophomore forward [player_tooltip player_id='589282' first='Cassie' last='Wegman']. She made a distinct impression on our scouts at the Tip Off with her season high 17-point performance against the Stewartville Tigers. This weekend in the St. Cloud area the 5'11 Wegman brought her A-game once again. In Friday night's contestagainst Prior Lake, Cassie showcased her aggressive defense, consistent passing, and ability to score in transition. She finished the game with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. The next day against the Warriors of Brainerd, she tallied another 10 points. So far this season the top 70-ranked prospect is averaging 9.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. She is currently the team's fourth leading scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id='453770' first='Maddy' last='Hamdorf'] – 2025 wing, Southwest Christian

The Granite City Classic kicked off on Friday morning with an exciting matchup between Southwest Christian and Pequot Lakes at St. Ben's. The two-point contest was one of the most exciting games of the entire weekend. On the floor for the Stars was former Minnetonka Skipper [player_tooltip player_id='453770' first='Maddy' last='Hamdorf'], who returned to the court after sitting out a transfer year. The 2025 wing didn't look rusty in the slightest and immediately made a big impact on the floor. At 5'10, Hamdorf showcased her length, ability to distribute the ball effectively, and hustle all game long. While the Stars fell just short in the 63-61 loss, Maddy finished with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals. Currently ranked #124 in the junior class, we look forward to seeing how Hamdorf's game will progress during the remainder of the season. It's great to see her back on the floor at the varsity level.

[player_tooltip player_id='453731' first='Haven' last='Fisher'] – 2025 guard, Prior Lake

Prior Lake gave us two of the most exciting matchups of the weekend, with 5-point games against Delano and Maple Grove. The Tigers came away with the win on Friday, but it was the Lakers upset of Maple Grove the next day that really caught our attention. Contributing key minutes in the win was 5'11 junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='453731' first='Haven' last='Fisher']. We've seen Haven play a number of times in the last few months and she has consistently shown us that her work in the summer season is paying off. While she didn't score much in the contest, Haven provided key defensive minutes against top 20 senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='215944' first='Ava' last='Cossette']. Her length, quickness, and high pressure defense helped hand the Crimson their first loss of the season. Over the past couple of years, the 86th-rated junior prospect has filled out and bulked up and the added size and strength is making a positive differnce.

[player_tooltip player_id='453737' first='Sarah' last='Hyde'] – 2025 guard, Wayzata

The weekend featured two wins for the Wayzata Trojans, and an increased number of minutes for 2025 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='453737' first='Sarah' last='Hyde']. Hyde, who was in Wayzata's starting lineup, stands at 5'10 and is long and well-built. She is quick-footed, an aggressive defender, and has a smooth shot release. Ranked #63 in the Class of 2025, Sarah excels at creating scoring opportunities for her teammates, consistently delivering well-timed and perfectly placed passes. Hyde is an opportunistic scorer who runs well in transition and can drain shots from the 3-point line. With wins over Minot (North Dakota) and Lakeville North, Wayzata now has a record of 8-2. Hyde and the rest of the Trojans will need to be on their A-game this month as they face off against the other members of the Lake Conference, including Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Hopkins, and STMA.
