Greeneville was dominant in this one. Greeneville has the makings of team that could make a post season run with their nice roster of complementary pieces. They defend extremely well, and dominated a South Greene team that had won six of thier last eight game.
Abby Adkins
Abby Adkins
Adkins had a massive game in the morning, establishing a new career high hitting the 19 point mark early in the game. She was scoring from all over the floor: in transition, in the paint, from the mid range. She’s a really crafty player that knows how to get to her spots. Hit nine of her first twelve shots with double digit rebound numbers. She continued to impress in the second half both on the glass and on the scoreboard. Finished with 25 points on the day.
Maria Lyde
Maria Lyde
Hyde was so good all tournament long, and was certainly one of the best ’27s at the AJBC. She was ultra aggressive all tournement long getting to the rim, and shot one of the most free throws of anyone in the tournament. She’s also a tremendous defender with lots of length and athleticism and toughness. I think she’s going to be really good (….she’s already really good). Had thirteen points at the end of the third quarter.
Also really impressed me as a passer. She’s legit.
Kyla Jobe
Kyla Jobe
A heady player that’s a nice connector. Really nice court vision, and to me stood out as a passer. Her IQ is off the charts, plays hard, hits the offensive glass, and wins 50/50 balls. Super athletic player. Great role kid.
Ryleigh Gregg
Ryleigh Gregg
Gregg got hot in the third quarter as South Green tried to spark a comeback. She hit three straight shots (with two threes) in the 3rd quarter cutting the lead to fifteen and forcing a Greeneville timeout. Gregg was the best player for South Greene in this loss.
Shaw is so fun to watch! One of the toughest players I’ve witnessed this year. Versus South Greeneville she had a series with a steal, layup, and then sprinted back to pull down a defensive board in the opposite corner. Shaw flies around the floor with great instincts. Also made a few high level passes to backdoor cutters and to Adkins.
Proved to be a really competent scorer, giving this Greeneville team another weapon in the arsenal as they gear up for the post season. This Greeneville team defends exceptionally well, has scorers, has playmakers, and has high level role players.
