Keep in mind not all teams post their statistics for the public.
Here is a look at eight athletes in the western part of Kansas averaging double-digits and who some basketball fans and college coaches may not know of.
Brooke Bailey, 5’5”, G, Ingalls, ‘24
The Ingalls Bulldogs are off to a 6-1 start to their season. Bailey is a senior guard who is averaging 10.1 points per game in those seven contests. Bailey also is having an impact on the defensive end of the court collecting five rebounds and two steals a game.
Sydnie Jones Sydnie Jones 5'10" | SG Bucklin | 2024 State KS , 5’9”, SG, Bucklin, ‘24
Bucklin will play in the same sub-state as Ingalls. Jones is the leading scorer for the Red Aces. The senior shooting guard is averaging 16.9 points per contest through seven games. Jones arguably might be the best prospect out west as she is also averaging 6.9 rebounds, 3.9 steals, and three assists for 6-1 Bucklin.
Morgan Ruff Morgan Ruff 5'6" | PG Hodgeman County | 2024 State KS , 5’8”, SF, Hodgeman County, ‘24
Ruff can play the No. 2 or 3 positions in an offense and has a nice combination of size and speed. She is scoring at 15 points per game clip. Ruff also leads the 6-2 Longhorns defensively with an impressive average of 2.4 steals and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Kennedy Werth Kennedy Werth 5'7" | PG Quinter | 2024 State KS , 5’7”, CG, Quinter, ‘24
Werth is a solid multiple sport prospect for the Quinter Bulldogs. She is scoring 10 points per game and filling up the rest of her stat line with 3.7 steals, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists for Quinter. She also is a setter and outside hitter during the volleyball season.
Jera Kruleski Jera Kruleski 5'7" | SG Holcomb | 2024 State KS , 5’8”, CG, Holcomb, ‘24
Kruleski is off to a hot start for the 4-2 Holcomb Longhorns. Through six games the senior combo guard is averaging 12.7 points per game. She also averages 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game. She passed the 1,000-point scoring threshold this season.
Jenessa Ruder Jenessa Ruder 5'8" | SG Norton | 2024 State KS , 5’9”, SG, Norton, ‘24
Norton has been producing legit college football prospects, but you can’t sleep on the town’s other talented female athletes. Ruder is scoring at a 12.3-points per-game pace through seven games. She is long and can dominate the paint as she is also cleaning the glass for 7.1 rebounds per game for the 5-2 Blujays.
Yahaira Puerto, 5’2”, PG, Satanta, ‘25
The Satanta Indians have a junior point guard who is filling up the basket. Puerto is averaging 15.6 points per game. She is also registering 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 steals per contest. Puerto is a libero and defensive specialist for Statanta’s volleyball squad.
Layla Kisner Layla Kisner 5'5" | PG Southwestern Heights | 2026 State KS , 5’6”, CG, Southwestern Heights, ‘26
Kisner is a sophomore out west who is off to a solid start. The combo guard is averaging 17 points through six games played. Kisner is also a board monster for the Mustangs averaging 6.7 rebounds per game.
