Below are my 7 players on the watch list that have stood out to me throughout the year!
The O’fallon program has offensive weapons all over, but Barringer has a little more “umph” to her game than the others. The style of the program is more team based, so you don’t get to see Barringer’s isolation bag on many possessions, but it’s there. Her ability to play a role within a system is what sticks out the most. Catch and shoot, leak outs, and the IQ to make the extra pass.
Geneva is known for having players that play hard.. and McCann is another name on that list. Whether the shots fall or not… this kid just works. Defensively she’s everywhere, offensively she has a confidence line that seems to not bend no matter the situation.
I got to see Amelia before the season kicked off, and what stood out is her ability to make plays. The size may not be there, but the IQ and understanding of when and when not to be “flashy” is present. She can knockdown the open looks, as well as defend combo guards. Not an ounce of “back down” is in her blood either, she played tough against Bolingbrook at the Coach Kipps Fest.

Waubonsie seems to be on a role and everybody on the roster contributes in their own way.. Cobb could be looked at as the secret weapon. If the main scorers aren’t on target, Cobb has the confidence to get things going. Having to adjust to a new role is not easy, but Cobb has taken the team first approach, which should improve her stock going into the summer.

Carter has the length and pace to be an impactful player on both ends of the floor. However her progression from last year to now has been key. She seems to be getting more comfortable with the flow of the game. The skillset is there. Solid potential.
Hardtke has great length to go along with her ability to stretch the floor and get to the rim. Defensively, she’s pesky and covers a lot of ground. She’s impactful on the boards as well as in the gaps, and on the ball. Aggressive type of defender.
Katie plays bigger than she’s listed, and her motor and energy don’t go unnoticed. Whether behind the arc or on the drive.. she will be impactful offensively. Her effort doesn’t alter on the opposite side of the ball either.
