The Potter-Dix Coyotes haven’t put together the start to this season as they might have liked but a player that has been shining bright through everything is Guard, Madison Williamson Madison Williamson 5’8″ | PG Potter-Dix | 2024 State NE . Williamson stands at 5’8 with some atheltisicm to pair along with that. This season, Williamson has competed in 15 games and in those 15 games she is averaging 16.1 PPG on 44% shooting, ranking herself in the Top 35 in scoring throughout the state of Nebraska. There are several things I could say here but the easiest way to put it is that Williamson is this teams life-force. She touches the ball at a high rate, makes important plays, and when it matters the most – she knows how to bring her teammates together. She demonstrates what it means to compete and she is always up for a new challenge. There is only a handful more games until their regular season ends and Playoff’s begin. If they can stay positive and see through the obstacles, they could make some things happen.
Lexi Fiscus Lexi Fiscus 5’10” | CG Bayard | 2024 State NE would be defined as a shooter in my book. When she is in rhythm, that’s when she is at her best. This season for her Bayard team, Fiscus has been lighting it up from all over the three point line. When you watch her play, you notice the circle motion she does with the ball on her shot when it starts from her knee. That is the rhythm I’m speaking about. When she is in the flow of things and has space, she is very confident stepping into a deep shot, usually seeing it go in. I would say that overall as a Guard, she can help you in a number of ways. This season it has been from three put she is averaging double-digits in score per contest, along with positive numbers in Rebounds and Assists. The Tigers are having a great year at 16-2 throughout their first 18 games. If they stay on this pace, they will have a top seed going into the Playoff’s and that’ll be a great start for them, as they attempt to bring home a State Championship.
Someone that has had a strong Rebounding and Scoring presence this winter for her Lawerence-Nelson High School team is Kara Menke Kara Menke 5’8″ | C Lawrence-Nelson | 2025 NE . Menke is a prospect with a high motor and great wherewithal on the court. She understands what is going on around at all times and is very good at making things happen once everything breaks down. She may only stand at 5’8 but her mixture of athleticism and passion, make up for that. Throughout her teams first 11 games this winter, she is averaging 11.5 PPG and 7.9 RPG. Menke still has a season to go before she graduates. If she is serious about this game, she is going to continue to get better in the offseason. If she does that and puts up even better numbers next season, I’m sure there will be a handful of recruiters wanting to give her a call as it pertains to her college career.
Ellie Topp
Ellie Topp
In the state of Nebraska there are a lot of talented players out of the 2027 Class but one that has been putting up eye-opening numbers this winter is Ellie Topp of Winside High School. Topp may only be a Freshman, but don’t let that fool you. She plays with a lion heart and is fearless no matter the circumstances that surround her. On a consistent basis, she does a great job of handling her own, letting her game do the talking. For this first Varsity season of hers, Topp is bringing in 8 RPG, while also scoring 7 PPG. These may not seem like the biggest numbers to some of you but it’s a base to build on moving forward. You have to walk before you run and Topp is already jogging at a steady pace. If she continues this production, she is going to be someone we hear about a lot more over the next few seasons.
One of the more fundamental PG’s in the 2025 Class is Allie Rohde Allie Rohde 5’5″ | PG Sumner-Eddyville-Miller | 2025 NE of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller High School. From everything I’m seeing, Rohde’s is a game manager. Someone that you give the ball to and say, “go to work.” She can be trusted in big moments to do what is best for the team, with the excellent ability to distribute to an open teammate or even score for herself. In today’s game, everyone says it’s position-less basketball and I disagree to an extent. When you have an individual who can be the coach on the floor and impact things with their ball-handling, creating, and direction. That’s a true Point Guard. You can’t replicate that and that is what we have going on here. I’m curious to see where she can take things from this point moving into the Playoff’s. I’m not too sure but I will definitely be paying attention.
