Lady Rattlers
in a battle of 5A Metro teams. The first half was a back-and-forth as McClintock had to deal with foul trouble. North Canyon fought to stay close but were unsuccessful as McClintock pulled out the victory 61-45.
Here I take a look at a few of the standouts:
Lamaiya Woodberry Lamaiya Woodberry 5'8" | SF McClintock | 2026 State AZ McClintock
Woodberry is a physical guard who does a little of everything on the court. In this contest she scored 26 despite being in foul trouble the entire game. She can get the rebound and go coast to coast. She has excellent speed with the ball in open court and can easily absorb contact once she gets in the paint.
Ava Adams Ava Adams 5'5" | PG North Canyon | 2024 State AZ North Canyon
The senior guard did all that she could to keep her team in the game. On offense, she showed the ability to draw the opposing defense and get her teammates open looks. She did this while also being aggressive in looking for her own shot. On defense, she has quick hands and excellent instincts, which leads to a lot of steals. She is among the steal leaders in the state.
Niya Gamble Niya Gamble 6'1" | PF McClintock | 2027 State AZ McClintock
The freshman showed a lot of potential. She’s long and athletic, which helps her on both ends of the court. On offense, she has a nice jump hook and a very quick second jump. On defense, she alters shots with her length and is a good rebounder. Her best basketball is way ahead of her.
Trinity King Trinity King 5'3" | PG North Canyon | 2027 State AZ North Canyon
King is a freshman who plays with a lot of confidence and isn’t afraid to attack the defense. She has range that extends out past the three-point line. She’s a good ball handler and shows the ability to get to the lane and finish.
