If someone is playing well and their team is winning because of it, that’s something to note moving into the Playoff’s because you never know who might end up facing off against each-other. In the article below, I highlight five players that have been, “Trending Upward” as of late, ultimately helping their team win some games this past week.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
South Sioux City High School got a big victory on Tuesday evening against Omaha Northwest, 66-60. In this contest, the production was pretty even across the board for the Cardinals as they had four different players in double-digits. One of their most sound and consistent players, not just in this contest but throughout this whole season has been Brooklyn Heineman Brooklyn Heineman 5’7″ | PG South Sioux City | 2024 State NE . Heineman is a Brair Cliff commit and a crafty player when she has the ball in her hands. From the Guard position, Heineman does everything pretty well. She is fundamental, strong with her movements, and she has intent with all of her movements. South Sioux City has some productive players, that should get a shot to compete at the next level. If everyone continues to grind, this is another group that isn’t going to be an easy out come Playoff time.
Highlights
Makenna Miller Makenna Miller 5’6″ | SG Anselmo-Merna | 2025 NE has active hands, quick feet, good coordination, and an act for being in the right place at the right time, usually leading to a steal and layup in transition. On Tuesday night, Anselmo-Merna High School won their contest against Twin Loup by a final of 66-31. In this contest, the player that stood out the most between both teams BY FAR was Makenna Miller Makenna Miller 5’6″ | SG Anselmo-Merna | 2025 NE . Miller ended the game with 24 Points, 9 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 5 Steals, and 2 Blocks. As you can tell, Miller is ACTIVE on both sides the floor because of her high motor. This past week was the first time that I’ve seen her compete and she was impressive to say the least with this stat line. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on her and this group moving forward. From what I’ve seen, they play as one-unit and produce at a higher rate than most so hopefully they can win a few more contests this regular season.
Brooke Sell

The Gibbons Buffalo’s haven’t had the start to their season that they would have imagined but they are taking the positives away from each contest and trying to build for the future. A player for the Buffalo’s that has stood out this year in their efforts is Forward, Brooke Sell. Sell is 5’11, with length and reach as one might imagine. In her teams most recent win on Tuesdays evening, she recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Sell’s isn’t the main offensively contributor on this team but she is Top 2. She is someone that does good job of contributing, even if she isn’t scoring the ball at a consistent and that says a lot about her overall game-style. Something to remember about this team is that they are YOUNG. They have six players listed on their Varsity roster, with four of them being Freshman so as long as they continue to grow both mentally and physically over the next couple of seasons, they are going to be just fine.
If I had to sum up Britney Klein Britney Klein 5’5″ | SG Crawford | 2024 State NE ‘s game in one word, it would be shooter. Klein is a 5’4 SG from Crawford High School and she can really let it go from deep. On a team that plays in a conference that runs a lot of zone, it’s important to have a good zone offense, as well as players who can shoot the ball. If you go back and watch any highlights from this team’s season up until this point, you are going to see a lot of success and a lot of three’s made by Klein. She even went on to make 9 three pointers in one of her contests this past December. As of most recent, Klein helped her Rams team to a 37-35 win over Hemingford. She ended the contest scoring 22 of her teams 37 points, while also grabbing 13 Rebounds, moving her Rams team to 9-7 on the season. If this team wants to keep winning this winter, it’s going to have to be on the back of Klein. She can impact a game in a number of ways. She just needs to keep it rolling at this point.
