Kiyak hit a span where she became a little bit of a regular in our coverage of athletes playing at a high level. She’s a good old fashioned shooter that can groove her jumper. Kiyak can hit off the catch and shoot and off the dribble. She’s shown that she can play can play off of, and find her shot off a screen.
Highlights
Griffin is a perfect example of what people mean when they say that a basketball player is having a breakout season. In a matter of months, she went from not on my radar to a ranked player that I’d take on my roster any day of the week. Griffin did this mainly with her team first approach and all out energy and effort at all times. In addition, Griffin has shown the ability to reposition on the perimeter and find and make jumpers.
Quality pure post players are anything BUT a dime a dozen, and Buggs has proven to be one of the better ones around the state. If you want post defense, then you want her on your team. She moves well in the paint and is able to slide across the lane and provide help defense. Buggs does a nice job walling up and challenging, altering, or blocking opponents shots.
Mahan definitely earned her spot on the class of 2024 prospect rankings. It probably started with a solid fall showcase season, but her play during high school season has warranted a ranking as well. Mahan is the type of player that let’s her defense carry her game. She’s a pesky defender that just seems to drive opponents crazy. Mahan plays with energy and grit and has a nose for the ball.
We were probably a little late to the party on this one, but she’s finally on the list of ranked prospects where she deserves to be. The Alma commit has had a very impressive senior season in which she’s proved that she can score at all 3 levels. Stevens can use a physical straight line drive as well as bury a jumper from beyond the arc.
