Spiller is a gamer and not only does she want the ball down the stretch, she can deliver and she’s shown that over the past two seasons. Her energy stays the same on both ends yet thinking back to last season, she played a huge part in her team representing the region and going to the state semifinals by showing she could change the momentum of games making it when it counts, and her three pointers under pressure were huge. She handles the ball under pressure and her court vision as well as decision making are solid
Echols is one of those “long and athletic” players that falls into a profile I love to evaluate because that is and always will be the base. She brings so much to the table, I hadn’t seen her in a very long time yet her performance at the Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational showed me how much she had added to her game. She elevates on her jumper facing the basket yet she also does the same around the basket to not only score, but go after the ball off the rim. Her ball handling and court vision were nice, so was was her playing the passing lane as well as shot blocking
Hall was a pleasant surprise for me at the Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational because of her #THROWBACK mentality and type of play. She didn’t mind physicality, either giving or taking and showing that “you won’t out work me” type of effort took me back to yesteryear. She understands positioning and does a good job rebounding on both ends of the court as well as getting the break going, but her finishing strongly around the basket, including after contact coupled were solid, so was her running the floor on both ends
Arzate has consistently added to her game since catching her a few years ago with her Austin Elite club team. She had the college ready frame, stood at “the magic number” which is 6’0, and watching how coachable she was to go with her skillset told me that the next level was in her future. She does a good job of defending not only in the paint but is agile enough to guard her man outside the paint. She has the “hands and footwork” around the basket to score, she also scores on putbacks, yes she rebounds on both ends and she can also face the basket and drop it
Holt understands how to give her team a BOLT of energy and with her being the sparkplug, please remember that the game has and always will start at the 1, watching her understanding how to “control the tempo” along with getting her teammates involved early has always been nice. She handles the ball under pressure, does a good job of creating her shot while being defended to attack and score as well as dish off the dribble yet her court vision in the open court is also nice. She can drop it from outside, does a good job defending and proves #sizedontmatter when you can play
