Allie Ziebell Allie Ziebell 5'11" | SG Neenah | 2024 State WI
It’s been quite the run of elite kids coming out of our state these past few years, and both elite players over the past two years will team up at Connecticut. Allie Ziebell Allie Ziebell 5'11" | SG Neenah | 2024 State WI and KK Arnold have been two of the best players to play at the high school level in Wisconsin, and their games will fit like a glove. Arnold is one of the best creators I’ve seen, and Ziebell has a track record of being one of the best shooters in the country over the past four years. Ziebell is as talented a scorer as I’ve seen, and even defensively, she’s better than people may give her credit for because she won’t take on the most challenging assignment due to the personnel the Rockets have.
Teagan Mallegni Teagan Mallegni 6'1" | SF McFarland | 2024 State WI
The future Iowa Hawkeye will walk into a situation where they lose a significant chunk of starters who’ve made them as successful as they’ve been the last few seasons. So, if you’re a Hawkeye fan, you may ask, what can we expect from Teagan? The one thing she’s ready to do at the next level, above all else, is score. Even the elite defenses in Wisconsin, like Notre Dame last season, who were among the best teams in the Midwest last season, if not the best, could only hold her to a near triple-double. She’s a 6-1 creative scorer who’s gotten more well-rounded with time. Like 99.9% of newcomers to the Big Ten, she’ll likely have to get used to playing at that level, but she’ll be the next highly productive Hawkeye from Wisconsin, and we’ll get to the other one in a second.
Kayl Petersen Kayl Petersen 6'1" | PF Waupun | 2024 State WI
The Waupun wing is the kind of kid Coach Duffy and Marquette love. She’s a 6-1 wing who can shoot it, attack off the dribble, pass, score from all three levels, play with her back to the basket, block shots, and have some switchability defensively. She’s as versatile as anyone in this class and as competitive as anyone in the 2024 class. If you’re a Golden Eagle fan, hopefully, you’ll see her play at the Resch Center this year with her Warrior group for a third consecutive year.
No matter where Grzesk has played, success has followed. We’re talking about a kid who was part of a highly successful Notre Dame youth program, a three-time D2 state champion, a multi-time all-state performer, and much more. From talking with people around the Midwest, they don’t seem to understand how productive and successful she’s been. Even in her final AAU run with Purple Aces , they went undefeated an entire summer and won the Bluestar league to cap off their summer. Grzesk has the best all-around offensive skillset in this class, in my opinion. She’s as proficient in the post as anyone, shoots the three at an over 40% clip, is excellent at passing out of the mid-post, and is one of the best cutters you’ll find. She’s a tremendous get for Marisa Moseley and the Wisconsin Badgers.
Taylor Stremlow Taylor Stremlow 5'8" | PG Verona | 2024 State WI
The first three years at Verona have been a mixed bag for Stremlow. From having a shortened Covid year as a freshman, missing her sophomore year due to injury, and getting back up to speed as a junior, things haven’t been smooth for her in the slightest. However, the talent was always there. She is a joy to watch when she was at her best. Her vision is second to none, and she has the creativity to get her teammates the ball in space in unconventional ways if she has to, which leads to things I can’t even put into words. She’s playing the best basketball I’ve seen her play as a senior, and now that things are as “normal” as they’ll get for her, we’re starting to see how far Stremlow can take a team as the primary ball-handler and they’ll likely see Arrowhead for a trip to the Resch Center, which will be fun. She’ll bring some magic to Carver-Hawkeye starting next season.
