Then came the Lexi Rabidoux wave that totally changed the game, juicing EHS with energy on both ends. Lock in and see who stood out in the Hornet’s Nest!
Alexa Rabidoux Alexa Rabidoux 5'7" | CG Essex | 2025 State NewE , 5’8 G – Essex H.S. Class of 2025
It was Lexi’s defensive activity and transition offense that swung the game. Rabidoux opened the second half with back-to-back-to-back steals and conversions going the other way. After that sequence, the game totally changed. She remained a pest defensively, and her gravity as a knock down shooter had MMU’s attention, which consequently opened up this interior for rim finishes, O boards, and second chance points. Lexi finished with a loud nine points and numerous steals; she’s true spark plug who boosts EHS on both sides.
Breya Montague Breya Montague 5'9" | SG Essex | 2024 State NewE , 5’10 G – Essex H.S. Class of 2024
The orchestration and rebounding from Breya were in full effect. She’s the lead guard and her offensive creation was paramount as EHS struggled to find rhythm early. Montague’s transition court vision put teammates in good spots to make plays. Plus, Breya must’ve had near double-digit boards; she had a sequence where she reeled in four in a row, keeping a lengthy MMU from 2nd chance buckets. Her eight points, rebounds, and ability to make the offense click provided an edge for Essex.
Bianca Williams Bianca Williams 5'10" | SG Essex | 2024 State NewE , 5’10 G/W – Essex H.S. Class of 2024
I have to say, there was a degree of surprise when I saw that Bianca went for 20. Her shot wasn’t falling early on, but then I reflected on her work in this one. Williams stayed the course, finding a couple 3s in the flow of the offense. Then her work to reel in extra possessions and finish inside came to light. She had plenty of such plays in the 2nd half, owning the interior as an offensive rebounder and scorer. Talented and hardworking players always find a way to make it happen, regardless of rhythm. Good work.
Colleen Sonnick, 5’11 W/F – Essex H.S. Class of 2027
A steady presence, Colleen’s impact on this one flew somewhat under the radar. Yet the versatile 4 showed good instincts defensively, especially away from the ball. Plus, she reeled in some boards and made it tough inside in the 2nd half. And lastly, her pull-up game is special for a 2027. She’s a tough cover with her ability to handle the ball, albeit herky-jerky, and when she rises up from the short corner, mid-range area it can feel automatic. Impressive with a good approach for a freshman.
Bella Schultz Mitchell Bella Schultz Mitchell 5'9" | SF Mount Mansfield | 2025 State NewE , 5’10 G/W – Mount Mansfield Union H.S. Class of 2025
Bella’s steady attack on the rim had MMU clicking, especially in the first half. Schultz-Mitchell was relentless, taking the ball to the rim and finishing with a variety of floaters and lay-ups, going for 22 to lead all scorers. Moreover, her jumper was going, and she stretched the defense to open up scoring opportunities for others. Schultz-Mitchell put good work in on the glass too, and from there she organized the offense. Bella’s a savvy player who impacts the game in a lot of ways.
Meghan Thompson Meghan Thompson 5'8" | CG Mount Mansfield | 2025 State NewE , 5’9 G – Mount Mansfield Union H.S. Class of 2025
Throughout much of the 1st half, Thompson had it rolling. Meghan was making the defense work as she hit the 3 and also got to the rim. Opponents really try to run her off the line because she can get real hot real fast, and she responded with a healthy balance of finishes in the second layer. Plus, she did it off a good deal of her own creation, taking players off the bounce and reading the second layer. Her defense was solid and her off-ball work smart too. A crafty scorer who can collapse a defense quickly.
Brianna Brownell Brianna Brownell 5'9" | SF Mount Mansfield | 2024 State NewE , 5’9 W – Mount Mansfield Union H.S. Class of 2024
MMU’s swiss-army knife had her work cut out for her. Brownell was enlisted with covering EHS’ best scorers throughout the game, both with good size and wit. I must say, Brianna had it dialed in for a while. She was always ready to challenge on the catch and kept them in front, forcing tough shots inside. In addition, Bri did her typical work on the glass and got MMU into good spots with her transition push or outlets. Her passing, rebounding, and defense had MMU in it all game.
Delilah Locher Delilah Locher 5'4" | CG Mount Mansfield Union | 2026 State NewE , 5’7 G – Mount Mansfield Union H.S. Class of 2026
I really like Locher’s game. She comes in ready to go and is immediately impactful. Dee saw the floor exceptionally well in this one, per usual, making good reads and clinical passes on backdoors, in transition, or simply in the flow of the offense. Additionally, she flashed the ability to get to the rim and finish with nice touch at the rim. Defensively, no let up. She’s pesky and intuitive; a true PG who makes those around her better on both ends of the floor.
