Continue ReadingThe De Soto Wildcats lost a close game on the road against the Seaman Vikings 50-47, but the Wildcats have a team that looks to be a tough out during post-season play. De Soto plays a poised game and has a solid inside-outside scoring attack.
Here is a look at four impressive prospects on the De Soto roster.
Makenzie Farmer Makenzie Farmer 5'9" | SF De Soto | 2025 State KS , 5’9”, SF, De Soto, ‘25
Farmer had a huge game for the Wildcats. She is an impressive guard who has a high basketball IQ. She loved to drive to her left and throw up rainbow mini-hook layups with her left hand. She is ranked No. 40 in the Class of 2025 and I would lobby that she be moved up the next time the rankings are updated. She had a team-high 16 points and added a blocked shot, two steals, and two rebounds. She is a very unselfish player but can take over a game if needed.
Ava O’Brien Ava O’Brien 5'11" | PF De Soto | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, PF, De Soto, ‘24
O’Brien was my favorite player to watch for the Wildcats. She is a true post player who knows how to create space and guard in the interior. She finished with six points and a team-high eight rebounds for De Soto. She is ranked No. 147 in the Prep Girls Hoops Kansas rankings for the class of 2024. I have seen more physically imposing posts this season, but no one who works harder on the offensive and defensive glass.
Addison Tower Addison Tower 5'4" | PG De Soto | 2024 State KS , 5’4”, PG, De Soto, ‘24
Tower is a sneaky guard who did not have a great shooting night, but I can see why college coaches like her. She is ranked No. 54 overall in the class of 2024 and has committed to the NAIA program University of Saint Mary, in Leavenworth. She scored eight points and added three assists and two rebounds. Tower takes care of the ball and can control the pace of the game.
Amanda Tower Amanda Tower 5'5" | CG De Soto | 2024 State KS , 5’5”, CG, De Soto, ‘24
Amand was the twin Tower who had the hot hand for the Wildcats on this evening. She scored nine points and converted on three straight 3-point field goal attempts in one stretch. She ended up shooting 3-of-7 from deep. She is ranked No. 214 among her Class of 2024 peers in Kansas. Tower can stop and pop from three or just set up on a wing and look for an open jumper.
