MacCalla has been mentioned in an article done by PGH listing her as the Top Freshmen to Watch in New York. She has not disappointed, racking up 1000 points her freshman season, after dominating as an 8th grader on varisty the year before. This seems to just be the beginning as she excels at a lot of different facets of the game, she has unlimited potential, and just needs to keep getting better everyday.
Mercado has been electric this season leading the state in scoring averaging 25 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 5 steals this season. She reminds me a lot of Jalen Brunson in the way she plays, impacts the game, and can get to anywhere she wants on the floor. Elite scorer and playmaker. Her ability to create space and shift on a dime makes her difficult to guard and has a natural ability to get a bucket whenever she wants on the floor. Not afraid of the moment, quick release and fluid mechanics on her shot. She is an elite passer and has high court IQ. Makes her team better and it shows with East New York’s record at 19-7 as they enter the final home stretch.
