Super Sophomores in Northwest Louisiana

The promise and skill these young ladies have shown this season has been nothing short of amazing. As their teams move into next season, these sophomores will be looked on to produce. Let us take a look at the super sophomores that should impress from NWLA.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Zara Scanlon (5'9" | Parkway)</strong> - This Lady Panther filled a big hole stepping into the starting lineup. She is an athletic guard who can make the outside shot but can also do the dirty work. Scanlon has the ability to make the baseball pass the length of the court on one play and dive on the floor the next. With her height and skill from the perimeter, she will be a real threat going into next season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='489580' first='Brooklyn' last='Jefferson'] (5'10" | Minden)</strong> - Jefferson has the tools to be a bonafide star on the prep scene. She is tall, can handle the ball like a guard, get to the rim, and she is athletic. Jefferson is a forward who can handle the ball very well. So when she rebounds the ball, she is ready to go on her own transition break. With her outside shot becoming more consistent, I think she may be a true breakout player next season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1221919' first='Shaniya' last='Perkins'] (6'2" | Haughton)</strong> - Perkins is literally a high school version of Zach Randolph. She is a lefty, space eater who knows her way around the paint. Perkins is agile and knows how to position herself in the post to score or rebound. She keeps the ball high and does not give small guards the opportunity to take the ball from her. Perkins is going to be one of the best post players in the state going into next season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Makayla Rogers (5'8" | Northwood) - </strong>Rogers is another sophomore with a multi-faceted skill set. She can handle the rock and shoot the ball from the perimeter. Her ability to put the ball on the deck and get to the rim is exceptional for her age. Rogers first step allows her to get that advantage more times than not. She is also long and causes problems on the defensive end. Rogers is a player with a load of potential. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='947830' first='Avery' last='Ryan'] (6'1" | Benton)</strong> - When you think of an athletic post player who is active on both ends of the floor, a picture of Ryan should be the first image one sees. Ryan works from side-to-side and often finds herself in position to score. She is also hard to keep off the boards. Her best attribute may be that she changes ends of the floor in transition well. Because she is so active, she is hard to contain. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There are other sophomores in the state who are going to be top players. However, the group of sophomores in northwest Louisiana is special. These young ladies will be some difference makers on the hardwood. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
