Alexander is “long and athletic” which is the base plus she’s a guard with unlimited range so watching her rebound and go coast to coast and score or drop the “stop and pop” from deep is something to see. Her attacking the basket in the set is also solid because not only can she score after contact, she can also dish yet her court vision in the set as well as in transition was clicking, along with her defense and playing the passing lane
Kasim smoothly filled in the blanks for her squad and watching her hit some big shots at key moments stood out, but that’s what she does. Her defense was solid, she also hit the boards on both ends but I could have placed her in the momentum changers article because I watched her drop the mid to long-range with a hand in her face at the right times to stir things up, yet she also made some defensive stops, either using her “long and athletic” frame to block shots or come from nowhere to play the passing lane
Bush-Lewis is one of the top shooters in the area and watching her elevate on her jumper in the set to drop it is nice yet what’s even nicer is that she does in while being defended. Mid to long-range is a problem since she understands how to create her shot and take the defender off the dribble but her court vision and ballhandling under pressure, along with her applying pressure on the defensive end are among the reasons I have her squad on next season’s short list to get out of here
Highlights
Sturdivant was another player that the announcer had a problem with saying her name correctly but again, he got most of her game correctly and since she had #D1Lock dropped from me when she was in the 5th grade, everything is continuing to fall into place. Her ballhandling baseline to baseline under pressure is second to none because she has “speed with the ball” and stays under control. She also can see the court from, well everywhere plus when you mix in her jumper as well as scoring off the dribble, what else do you expect. How about “on the ball defense” and countless times diving for loose balls
Carlton continues to move up the famous Carlton ranks and as she passed both Banks and the Doorman, you may want to Google since much of what I say goes over the heads of many, understand this. She’s long and athletic which will ALWAYS be the base and her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots has become “scary good” because she’s doing it instinctively and effortlessly. Yes, she rebounds on both ends and scores around the basket but she’s putting it on the floor to score
