Athletes were able to get their pictures taken, but it wasn’t all glamor as they set up for a practice afterwards. Here are some of the players I’ll be watching from the 14U team.
Deanna Hunter
Deanna Hunter
Deanna Hunter does a nice job hustling up the court being ready for the pass on fast breaks and knowing how to make the right adjustments to get the points. She finds the open lanes and attacks off the dribble putting up some nice jumpers. She can certainly control the tempo for her team pushing it up the court or slowing things down for offensive sets.
Gabriella Willis
Gabriella Willis
Gabriella Willis is constantly moving on offense looking for the opening whether she is cutting in the lane or she is moving around the perimeter. She was seeing the floor well getting passes inside to her teammates flashing in the paint. Her shot fake is sure to get her defenders off their feet. On the other end, she’s a nuisance on defense picking the pocket of her opponents.
Jada Powell
Jada Powell
Jada Powell uses a nice jab step to create her own open space to put up her shot. She gets inside for rebounds, and she knows how to immediately push the ball up the court. She can make some nice cuts to the basket getting the pass and scooping it for the score. She takes the ball coast to coast with ease scoring on solo fast breaks.
Gianna DeMauro
Gianna DeMauro
Gianna DeMauro does a nice job setting herself up finding the opening and knocking down her shot from deep. She takes advantage of her defender being a half step off blowing by her attacking the basket. She grabs steals on defense and finding her open teammates up the court.
