Only 16 teams make it to the finals and if you have made it here, you have beaten the odds. After a weekend of tough play, we are excited to bring you the Second Team All Tournament.
You will not find a player out there who works as hard as Ella. The kid is out there with 110% effort from start to finish-something only seen in the upper echelon of athletes. While Ella has always been known for her tight handles and spot-on shooting, what stood out most to me this tournament was her defense. She guarded the opposing team’s fastest and talented guard and kept the opponent’s scoring to a minimum.
Brynn was one of the most solid players on the court this weekend. She posted up, defended the basket under the glass, and rebounded the heck out of the ball. She dominated in the paint. When she didn’t have a good shot, she was able to get it to her teammates. She kept up with two extremely fast, guard heavy teams. She used her stature and defensive prowess whenever she could.
What more can you say about Galvan that hasn’t already been said. She led her new team to a State Championship for starters. The girl can dribble through anyone, her catch and shoot is as quick as can be and her shooting is spot on. Even in times where she isn’t the leading scorer, she is passing and feeding the ball to the best spot on the floor for an open shot.
My only regret is that I wasn’t able to see Lily play in person more this season. What a pleasure she is to watch! I have seen her plenty of times on video but it doesn’t do her skills justice. She is an offensive and defensive machine. You can be sure that she is pulling down rebounds when she is anywhere near the ball. Has a great way of getting her defenders to foul and convert to points. Offensively, she scored 39 points between both games. Was the leader on this Illini Bluffs team.
Highlights
Was super excited to see Samantha Brinmann on the floor for the Nashville team. The freshman guard showed that she deserved to be on the court. She has such purposeful movements on the court not seen in most young players. Her length is an asset and she uses it rebound, score and steal. She has a keen eye for her teammates placement which allowed her team to keep up with a tough Peoria Notre Dame team.
