NJSIAA South Jersey Sectional Final Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Late last week and over last weekend saw the sectional finals of high school girls basketball take place in New Jersey. After discussing the top performances from Central Jersey, we head to South Jersey for this look back at the sectional finals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='488654' first='Shannon' last='Pierman'] - Woodstown (2024)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If there was any game to have arguably your best high school performance ever, a sectional final was the place to do it. Woodstown senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='488654' first='Shannon' last='Pierman'] was nothing short of excellent in the game, an eventual heart-breaking 54-53 loss to Wildwood. She finished with her 12th double-double of the season and final one with the Wolverines, a 24-point, 18-rebound masterclass at that.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='601414' first='Angela' last='Wilber'] - Wildwood (2026)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In a game that would clinch Wildwood's spot in the quest for an overall state title, Wilber certainly showed up and showed out for the Warriors. She knocked down a pair of three-pointers, finishing with 13 points and eight rebounds. Wilber was able to get to the line a few times and was clinical in free-throw shooting, another reason for her overall success in the win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Iyanna Bennett - Middle Township (2024)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It was all hands on deck for Middle Township to secure its second-straight sectional title, and senior Iyanna Bennett, someone who was used much more often this season, had herself a GAME in the win. Nothing too flashy, but she tied career-highs in scoring and rebounding with 10 points and eight rebounds, arguably her best high school game to date, and it came at just the right time for the Panthers. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='414317' first='Ava' last='Sztenderowicz'] - Cinnaminson (2025)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Cinnaminson had itself quite a run to make it to the Group 1 South Jersey sectional final, but unfortunately, things came up short for the Pirates. Someone who didn't come up short was guard [player_tooltip player_id='414317' first='Ava' last='Sztenderowicz'], finishing with 12 points in her final game of the season. She averaged in double-figures offensively as a junior, a great sign for what her senior year has to offer.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Analise Myles - Absegami (2024)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There were a number of players to pick from for Absegami in its sectional final loss against Mainland. Who we chose was a role player, a bench presence that stepped up in a big-time situation. Analise Myles might not have gotten the playing time she wanted over her high school career, but in this game, she was a three-point machine, knocking down three as she finished with nine points and three rebounds.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='588708' first='Ava' last='Mazur'] - Mainland (2024)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Big time players come up in big time moments. The saying is as old as time in the sports world, and in the Group 3 sectional final, who else but Mainland's senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='588708' first='Ava' last='Mazur'] to take care of business against Absegami. All she did was pace all scorers with 19 points, just another day in the office for her as the Mustangs are just one win away from an overall state championship.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='414232' first='Alexa' last='Henry'] - Lenape (2025)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As much as it didn't feel like a surprise watching them all season, it was a surprise to see Lenape come away as the Group 4 champions in South Jersey. That just comes down to a balanced roster of talent, led by players like junior [player_tooltip player_id='414232' first='Alexa' last='Henry'], simply one of the best in the region. She finished with 14 points, going a perfect 7-of-7 from the line as she's exploded and finally broke out as we've expected her to as a junior.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='859265' first='Tinu' last='Bamgbose'] - Williamstown (2024)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It wasn't the senior send-off that Bamgbose and Williamstown wanted, but she wasn't going down without a fight, the same sentiment as the Braves. A solid final performance in high school, the senior finished with 11 points and three rebounds, knocking down a three while shooting 80 percent (4-of-5) from the foul line. She really excelled in her final season with Williamstown and became a steady starting contributor.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
