Bonnema and her Kalamazoo Christian team got a win in the regional semifinal. The athletic guard attacks the rim and can finish through contact. She knocked down multiple 3’s in the game. She also got things done on the other end of the floor with steals, going coast to coast. Her team has had a successful season, and she has played a huge part in that.
Utomi played a significant role in her team’s victory during the regional semifinal. She has a reputation for playing intense defense, getting deflections, and steals that provide her team with extra scoring opportunities. She is very effective in attacking the rim, and her craftiness once she gets in the lane is unmatched. There is no doubt that she will be a major contributor to her Arbor Prep team’s success in the playoffs, and they will go a long way with her on their side.
Flynn and her team from Harbor Springs lost in the regional semifinal, but Flynn had an impressive performance. As an athletic guard, she scored from all three levels, finishing at the rim through contact, hitting multiple mid-range jumpers, and knocking down several shots behind the arc. Additionally, she finished the game with double-digit rebounds. Despite being a junior, she is already the all-time leading scorer, and I have high expectations for her during this grassroots season.
Shamion led her West Iron County team to victory in the regional semifinal. The Point Guard did a great job attacking the rim and dishing it to her post player. She also finished strong at the rim when the help didn’t come.
Bisballe had an outstanding all-around game, despite being constantly double and triple-teamed during the game. She was able to finish through the double-team and pass the ball to an open shooter when triple-teamed, resulting in numerous assists throughout the night. Additionally, she was a strong rebounder on both ends of the floor, an elite rim protector, and finished the game with many blocks.
Amey may be an undersized forward, but that doesn’t stop her from getting the job done on both ends of the floor. She is excellent at securing offensive rebounds and putting them back up for points, and she even managed to get an And-one on the night. One of her strengths is her ability to seal her defender deep, allowing her to get into great position for an easy bucket.
