Continue ReadingI had the chance to see several regional tournament games this week, and over the next couple of days I will talk about some of the players who were impressive with their game. In my first look, I review some of the guards who I thought played well. The majority of these players did not advance to the state as those will be covered this week in Dayton.
She is clearly one of the top sophomores in the entire Buckeye state, and she had another good year for Carroll. In their regional loss to Hamilton Badin, Kiera showed she can play both inside and out with solid guard skills. Excellent defender, long and athletic, can block and alter shots. I expect her to have a good summer and come back even better when November rolls around.
Elizabeth Zimmerman
Elizabeth Zimmerman
Liz she put on a great show offensively as she handles pressure well from the point guard position. An outstanding finisher and gets downhill well to the rim. She is such a great backcourt with her sister who you will read about later, they made this team run smoothly. Ran into a buzz saw in the regionals, but these two are so good in the back court! Athletic kid who excels in multiple sports.
She is definitely underrated and doesn’t get the recognition she deserves by some folks. I believe she is the power that keeps this motor running. Outstanding guard, smart, and is a player who is not flashy and doesn’t always drop 20, but she is productive in many ways with and without the ball. Heading to play at Edison State next year.
Syenna is a productive player who can help her team in multiple ways. She has a good confident perimeter game, but she can also put the ball on the floor and get by her defender and get to the rim. She is a solid multi positional player who can play inside or out on the perimeter. Was a key part in the successful tournament run for the Hawks.

Another player who is on a team full of talented players. I have liked her game for the past couple of years, she is an underappreciated player who is an excellent floor leader, and can push tempo with good handles. She play with a high motor and is a scrappy player who will put her body on the line for her team.
