Jennie Jones
Jennie Jones
Her number was 25, name is probably incorrect yet her “college ready frame” and doing some damage inside the paint had me smiling. She’s over “the magic number” which is 6’0, she’s also “strong and athletic” with length and watching her rebound, on both ends of the court as well as run the floor on both ends immediately caught my eye. She also showed she could score around the basket, at times with players literally hanging on her but her interior defense was solid, she even stepped outside the paint to guard her man
Jezale Jacobs
Jezale Jacobs
Jacobs gets the cover because her showing relentlessness going after everything off the rim spoke volumes for numerous reasons. First of all, the class that she’s in and she was doing damage playing up. She has a strong frame and doesn’t mind the physicality, on either end, whether it’s giving or taking but she attacked the basket powerful and finished powerfully, even after the lick. Solid upside
Alereyah Sampay
Alereyah Sampay
Sampay was another younger player playing up and she didn’t mind getting after it against older, taller players. She brings the “you won’t outwork me” mindset to the table but here’s another kicker, she already is showing she can take advantage of the defender around the basket with the “hands and footwork” which will only get better. She also rebounds and finishes around the basket
Akoi Atem
Akoi Atem
Atem is “long and athletic” which is and always will be the base. Her intangibles are she plays the passing lane, has good timing to block shots and dives on the floor for loose balls, I love things you can’t teach and desire and effort are among them. She also did a good job defending inside the paint but she showed she could guard “on the ball” outside of it
Hannah Adeleke
Hannah Adeleke
Adeleke plays taller than her listed height and I’m thinking she has some over the top upside, especially if she has a growth spurt because she was also one of the players that fell into that “never takes a play off” and without using overused words like motor and engine, she just goes hard on both ends. She went AFTA everything off the rim, finished around the basket, putbacks included, and showed she could attack and finish
Yanely Norales
Yanely Norales
Norales is also “long and athletic” please remember that will always be the base and she is nowhere near the finished product but it’s not just what she does, it’s how she’s doing, which is instinctively. I judge players on that, as well as how they react in certain situations, that’s my blueprint but watching her slice by defenders off the dribble was nice, so was her changing hands in mid air around the basket. She also has good timing to block shots, even handled the ball after rebounding
Ryleigh Hackman
Ryleigh Hackman
Hackman is powerful inside the paint, yeah she has the college ready frame and she stands around the magic number which is 6’0, but I enjoyed watching her seal the defender to score inside the paint. She showed she could rebound on both ends, scored on putbacks as well as facing the basket but her interior defense was nice, so was her running the floor on both ends
Shamarie Smith
Shamarie Smith
Smith was yet another “long and athletic” player standing near that “magic number” and she not only has the powerful frame, she did a good job of using it on both ends of the court. Yeah, hit the boards on both ends, scored around the basket and actually made good decisions while seeing the floor yet she also applied interior heat defensively
