Continue ReadingAfter a record-breaking freshman season from Brihanna, we couldn’t wait to see how she looked coming into her sophomore year. We knew scoring the ball wouldn’t be a problem for her, with her size and skill. I was more interested in seeing what areas she had grown in over the summer, like shooting the 3 more consistently which she did. Boosting her percentage from 28% to 39%, she looked more comfortable and willing to take them when the defense sagged off. Adding that with her aggressiveness on defense she was able to lead Riverdale Ridge to its first championship in school history.
We didn’t get to watch Isabella Shumpert Isabella Shumpert 5’9″ | PG Arapahoe | 2026 State CO at all this past season as she recovered from an injury the season before. As the summer comes, we will be looking out to see when she can get back on the court. The Arapahoe guard brings great on-ball pressure and lockdown one on one defense. Isabella is also one of the best shooters in the class on or off ball.
Highlights
If you didn’t get to see Kyla Hollier Kyla Hollier 6’2″ | SF Roosevelt | 2026 State CO this past season you truly missed out on something special. She helped lead Roosevelt to back-to-back state championship titles along with raising her stock nationally in the process. The 6’1 wing was a dominant paint presence which includes a variety of moves around the basket. Hollier also has the skill set to operate on the perimeter, whether it’s downing knock opens jumpers or breaking defenders down one on one.
The Springs always seems to have gems hidden away somewhere every year. For the past couple of seasons, it has been Kinley Asp Kinley Asp 5’10” | CG Colorado Springs Christian | 2026 State CO the Colorado Springs Christian guard that has been a vital part of the last two years in which they won state titles at the 3A level. Kinley is a bigger guard that has a quick first step allowing her to get to the rim at will. She is crafty enough to finish over bigger defenders with or without contact.
One of my favorite guards in the state to watch regardless of class happens to be Chloe Parker Chloe Parker 5’8″ | PG ThunderRidge | 2026 State CO . For Thunderridge this season she got a lot of time at the point guard spot allowing her to be the primary decision maker for the team, a role she excelled in. Balancing that with her ability to score in the midrange area makes her a tough cover.
