In most cases, the class of 2026 has now completed their second season of high school basketball. They now better understand the nuances of the game and are acclimated with the speed at the varsity level. With that being said, let's take a look at the Shooting Guard position and see where each player stacks up.

[player_tooltip player_id='648195' first='Kjani' last='Anitielu'] | Farmington

Kjani is a floor pacing slasher who was an All-State selection (Honorable Mention) this past season. In 31 games played, Anitielu averaged 10.5 points per game with 37 3PM on 45/40 spits (FG%/3P%) helping take the Lady Scorpions to the Final Four in 5A for the 2024 Nusenda Credit Union Girls Basketball State Championships.

[player_tooltip player_id='831118' first='Aliana' last='Armitage'] | Hobbs

Armitage is a willing and capable defender whose energy is contagious. Aliana is a menace out in the perimeter and is arguably the best on-ball defender in the class of 2026, thanks to her physicality and ability to stay in front of her opponent. Armitage anticipates well and has active hands, resulting in her making outstanding plays defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='648201' first='Lailah' last='Bouldin'] | Albuquerque High

Bouldin is a two-way playmaker with great speed and athleticism. As a '3&D' player, Lailah averaged 14.0 points and 2.7 steals per game in 28 games played for the 2023-24 season. Furthermore, Bouldin had 42 3PM which was the top mark for the 2026 class. Bouldin can hold her own on cross-matches and is fantastic at face-guarding.

[player_tooltip player_id='648204' first='Daira' last='Solis Gutierrez'] | Manzano

Daira is reliable backcourt player that makes the game easier for her teammates with her passing ability. In just 22 games played, Daira posted 65 total assists, giving her an average of 3.0 dimes a contest.

[player_tooltip player_id='648207' first='Ashelynn' last='Borunda'] | Lovington

Borunda is a hardworking SG and 'glue player' for Lovington who can rebound, defend and score when called upon. Ashelynn appeared in 23 games for the Wildcats this season and essentially doubled her production across the board from her freshman campaign. Borunda averaged 9.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in 2023-24.

[player_tooltip player_id='648208' first='Skye' last='Henry'] | Pine Hill

Henry is a promising shot creator who can find teammates in the open court and in the halfcourt. Skye does a good job of looking for the kick ahead pass, triggering early offense and establishing fast break opportunities. In 27 games played, Henry recorded 81 total assists for an average of 3.0 per game, which was tied for the second most amongst the 2026 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='893559' first='Alysa' last='Lovato'] | Questa

Lovato is a rising scoring threat who does most of her damage inside the three-point line. The 5'4" sophomore appeared in 30 games, posting an impressive 13.0 points per game, shooting 32 percent from the field. Lovato helped lead Questa (19-11) to a Round of 16 birth as the No. 9 seed in 2A.

[player_tooltip player_id='828812' first='Jema' last='Ganadonegro'] | Magdalena

Ganadonegro is a budding sharpshooter who can stretch the floor. In 2023-24, Jema was in the top 10 for both PPG & 3PM. Ganadonegro made 27 appearances for the Lady Steers totaling 324 points -- 12.0 PPG -- while hitting 30 three-pointers.

[player_tooltip player_id='828811' first='Tayton' last='Gomez'] | Valley

Gomez is an emerging SG that has vastly improved her decision making in the halfcourt. Tayton had a breakout season averaging 8.8 points and 5.8 rebounds for the Vikings (13-15) in 2023-24.

[player_tooltip player_id='648210' first='Chloe' last='Brown'] | Sandia

Brown is a 3-point specialist for the reigning 5A Champions, the Sandia Matadors. Chloe's ability to space the floor provides the team with a different dynamic in terms of how they can use their rotations. Brown had 20 3PM in 31 games played.

[player_tooltip player_id='893563' first='Carissa' last='Cardenas Gallegos'] | Rio Grande

Cardenas Gallegos is a midrange slasher who has taken great strides on the offensive end of the floor. Carissa has improved her ball handling and outside shot resulting in a higher output from a production standpoint (4.2 PPG).

[player_tooltip player_id='893572' first='Makiaya' last='Ortiz'] | Highland

Ortiz is a SG on the up and up who has seen a tremendous spike in MPG, allowing her to develop on both ends of the floor. In 2023-24, Ortiz saw 474 minutes of playing time, compared to the just 26 minutes as a freshman in 2022-23.

[player_tooltip player_id='893573' first='Olivia' last='Martinez'] | Los Alamos

Martinez is quick and athletic backcourt player with upside. Olivia has a ton of potential to develop into a reliable option for the Hilltoppers over the next few years.
