1- As a coach, it was always easier for me to teach a kid how to defend than it was to teach them to be an effective scorer. Putting the ball in the basket is really hard.
2- We all say can agree that scoring is somewhat overrated, but I’ve yet to see a team win a game zero to zero. You must score to win…it’s simply the nature of the beast.
3- It’s the offseason. And we need hoops to talk about!
According to Maxpreps, the sophomore guard is currently sitting at 446 points after averaging 12 a game this season. But, the kid is a straight up gamer that’s primed for a major jump.
With Maddy Newman Maddy Newman 6’2″ | C Gatlinburg-Pittman | 2024 State TN and Co graduating, I see Glasper making a big jump to 16 points a game. Her shooting percentages are tremendous: 50% from two, and 40% from 3, with over 50 made threes. She’s a three level scorer that is about to break loose, and I predict her to hit the 1,000 point mark by the end of the season.

There were moments in the state tournament that I thought Chelby Jordan Chelby Jordan 5’8″ | PG Dyersburg | 2026 State TN was the best player on the floor. There are some things that intuitively just know how to do things that they’ve likely never even practiced. Moments where their instincts take over, no thinking is involved, and they simply make a play that no one else could fathom.
That was what I saw in Jordan: a special playmaker. And, she’s only going to get better! Heading into her junior year she’s sitting on 770 points, after averaging 14 points on 47% from the floor, and 37% from 3.

The 5’8 sophomore had a breakout campaign in which she saw major jumps in all of her major statistical categories. Reese Shirley Reese Shirley 5’8″ | SG Columbia Academy | 2026 State TN averaged 6 points and 4 rebounds as a freshman. As a sophomore, her numbers jumped to 15 points and 8 rebounds! She’s currently sitting at 552 points. If she can raise her shooting efficiency a bit, she could hit 1,000 by season’s end.

Adison Hayes Adison Hayes 5’10” | SG Grainger | 2026 State TN is just rock solid. Game in and game out, you know exactly what you’ll get from her. She never forces the issue, and lets the game come to her. Rarely, will she take a bad shot.
She already has 789 points after averaging 12 points as a freshman and 13 as a sophomore. She also hit 64 threes this year and went to the free throw line a TON. While the straight up scoring average might not reflect it so much, she was much improved her sophomore year.
Already sitting at 834 points, Keely Webb Keely Webb 5’7″ | PG Dickson Co. | 2026 State TN will walk into 1,000 points as district play starts. Her scoring jumped from 12 points as a freshman to 15 as a sophomore. She’s becoming a more diverse scorer that’s beginning to show flashes as an effective inside/outside scorer. Her diversity is growing….and its paid off.
Cara Lee Gilbert Cara Lee Gilbert 5’3″ | PG Cookeville | 2026 State TN plays in an equal opportunity offense that’s loaded with scorers. I’m not sure she will get to 1,000 this year, but I wouldn’t bet against her either.
Her scoring jumped from 3 points per game as a freshman to 12 PPG as a sophomore. With Isabel Garcia Isabel Garcia 5’10” | C Cookeville | 2024 State TN graduating, there are gonna be more points to be scored–and if she continues to improve at this rate–they might just go to her. She’s sitting at 426 points, so it’ll be tough…but it’s doable.
