This weekend down in Georgia, Phenoms of the Future kicked off the year highlighting some talented middle school kids from around the south. We had a couple of teams from the state participate in the event. Yes of course they did work, winning big in some contest (Shout out to Team B.Wright). Here are some very talented young ladies who will be tearing it up on the hardwood floor in the state of Tennessee this upcoming season.
(Schools listed represent their current middle schools)
Ariyah Huffman Ariyah Huffman 5'9" | SF Cleveland Middle | 2028 TN (5’9/8th grade/G/ Cleveland)– Silky smooth with the ball in her hands, this kid is an elite finisher. Can finish around the rim against contact or launch it from deep. Think along the lines of a Rickea Jackson, this young lady can score the basketball. Excellent two way player who will be a big time contributor at the next level.
Naiomi Crawley (5’8/ 8th grade/ G/ J.T. Moore)– A go getter who plays with a motor. Naiomi is a solid two way player who creates havoc on both ends of the floor. Can score it from all 3 levels, but it’s her defensive abilities that sets her apart. She brings the juice every possession and has the ability to extend a lead for her team at a moment’s notice. Great kid who is going to help a ball club right from the start.
Ayzlyn Stroud Ayzlyn Stroud 5'4" | PG Cleveland Middle | 2028 TN (5’5/8th grade/PG/ Cleveland)– Heady basketball player who has great court vision. She can score the ball, but her ability to see the floor and make timely assists is what makes her so lethal. She can pull up, knife through defenses, but dishing the ball to her open teammates, that’s her bread and butter. Great kid who will be an effective contributor at the next level.
Tempo Haun (5’10/8th grade/ F/ Ensworth) Wiry forward who is a big time gamer. Contributes on the boards, defends, is a multi- level scoring threat. She has an high basketball IQ, where she can exploit weaknesses on the floor. Solid kid who is going to be a problem down the stretch .
MiMi Lee (5’6/8th Grade/ G/ Red Bank) – tough kid who is just a grinder. Has a nice first step that enables her to penetrate between the defense. Can shoot it from the arc, but challenging opponents in the paint is what she does. A problem on the defensive end, she’s a lockdown defender looking to steal the basketball and poof, it’s off to the races the other way for the lay. Solid kid who is a tough competitor.
Jordan Carey Jordan Carey 5'9" | SG Clarksville Christian | 2027 TN (5’9/8th Grade/ G/ Kirkwood)- An all around player, this young lady can do pretty much everything. Can score it from all levels, lock up defensively the full length of the court, rebound, get steals, just a solid all round package. She was big time for her club being active on both ends. This kid has loads of talent and will be a big time hooper on the hardwood.
Addy Osborne (5’7/8th grade/ G/ West Wilson)– Solid contributor who can do all things. She can score it from inside and out, be a nuisance on the defensive end, dish to open teammates , and contribute in pretty much all statistical categories. A tough competitor who just gets after it. Heady ball player who is always in the mix.
Destini Ligons (6’0/8th grade/ C/ Blackman)– Another big about to be in the Lady Blaze program, Destini will be a solid addition to the club. This kid’s game grows each and every day. She’s a good communicator, can deter shots in the paint, rebounds well, finishes at the rim on the offensive end, these are just a few qualities she brings to the table. Once it clicks for her, she is going to be a big time contributor.
Blair Slayden (5’7/8th grade/ G/ Brentwood Academy) A pure hustler who gets after it. A multi- level scoring threat, has great court vision that enables her to exploit a ln opponent’s weakness . Lethal with the ball in her hands, it’s going to find the bottom of the net for sure. Though she gets highlighted for her offensive prowess, don’t sleep on her defensive abilities. She’s always in the mix and even makes the extra effort plays such as diving for loose balls. Solid kid who is going to be a great addition to the high school squad.
