I hadn’t seen Abel play in about a year, but there were still things I’d known about her. She can shoot it, rebound, and be a versatile defender at 5-11. However, I didn’t realize how much better Abel got at attacking off the dribble. She looked comfortable making a move or two on her initial defender and tried to make a play going downhill. That may have been the surprise of the weekend for me. That skill to handle and create off the dribble takes her from being a stretch-four in my mind to a wing, which changes the outlook for her if that keeps up.
Lola Warren Lola Warren 5'5" | PG Hamilton | 2026 WI
I saw Warren playing for Hamilton earlier in the high school season, and she showed some promise in that game against Kettle Moraine Lutheran. She can handle pressure, which stood out for most of that game, and she’s got some poise with the ball in her hands. I thought she did an excellent job this past weekend getting to the rim and finishing in traffic. Her ability to get to the paint and make tough shots is a valuable trait in a guard, and her ability to pass forces defenses to risk giving up open looks if they help or let her score one-on-one.
It probably takes about two minutes to guess that Bond is a soccer player. Her foot speed, change of direction, and tenacity suggest that she has played competitive soccer for an extended period. Bond’s a handful for defensive guards to keep her in front of them, and the KM junior loves running in transition. Whenever she gets the ball in her hands, she’s looking to push the tempo, and her teammates know if they run, there’s a good chance they’ll get the ball from Bond. She’s a tricky lead guard that can cause any defenses problems.
Vogler missed the first day of games due to soccer, but she made up for it on day two. I thought she did a tremendous job scoring and using her ability to score from the perimeter to get into other stuff. For instance, her threat to shoot forces defenses to close out aggressively, and Vogler can then attack 5-on-4 toward the rim. I’ve loved watching her operate on that end of the floor since I first saw her play, and she’s only improving.
