The 20% growth in the number of included prospects caused most players to slide at least a couple positions. This article looks at not only debuters from the 3A classification and lower but also at prospects who advanced despite the increase. Players are listed in rank order.
Hayden Halliday Hayden Halliday 5'5" | PG Olathe South | 2027 State KS , 5’5″, PG, Olathe South – The 2024 Sunflower League honorable mention selection made the largest move of any player regardless of classification. The Falcon floor leader jumped 11 spots to #6. Halliday is a floor leader with a mature game that was integral to the teams success that ended in the quarterfinals of the 6A state quarterfinals. A high IQ player with quick hands, strong handles and perimeter shooting ability. Also a solid defender Halliday sets well to draw charges.
Pearmella Carter Pearmella Carter 5'10" | PF Highland Park | 2027 State KS , 5’10”, PF/C, Highland Park – Entering at #9 Carter is the top debuting player in the class. She averaged 18.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.9 steals per game. A Meadowlark League first team selection Carter also was named to the Sports In Kansas 5A second team and both the KBCA and KSHSAA 5A third teams. Lengthy with good footwork around the basket Carter has good hands, keeping the ball up to finish as well as gather rebounds.
Payton Converse Payton Converse 5'10" | PF Andover Central | 2027 State KS , 5’10”, PF, Andover Central – Converse uses her length, athleticism and strong defensive motor to take away opportunities for entry passes to opposing bigs. She is notably effective doing so after ball reversals. Converse debuts at #25.
Bailey Busch Bailey Busch 5'7" | CG Manhattan | 2027 State KS , 5’7″, CG, Manhattan – Busch is an athletic, strong, physical talent who jumps quickly to rebounds. Frequently found defending opposing posts she actively looks to box out. Busch was a consistent contributor as part of the rotation and had quality minutes in the Indians’ 6A quarterfinal loss. She debuts at #26.
Ella Jack Ella Jack 5'7" | SG Shawnee Mission South | 2027 State KS , 5’7″, PG, Shawnee Mission South – Jack was part of a short bench for the 6A state champions. And with the graduation of the Raiders’ starting backcourt Jack can be expected to be next up. She is a solid defender with slashing abilities in the half court. Jack debuts at #27.
Lilly Lund Lilly Lund 5'10" | SG Blue Valley | 2027 State KS , 5’10”, SG, Blue Valley – Lund has a diverse, athletic game. Rising 5 spots to #33 she rebounds the ball well, plays passing lanes well and is a credible shooter.
Piper Alvord Piper Alvord 5'5" | CG McPherson | 2027 State KS , 5’5″, CG, McPherson – Alvord is among a number of young players the Bullpups are excited to see step into bigger roles next season. The team graduates four seniors, including Alvord’s sister Karter. Fast and active with a solid build Alvord plays with confidence and has a well-rounded game. Alvord debuts at #49.
Peyton Wright, 5’8″, SF, Baldwin – The lanky Frontier League second team selection elevates well on jumpers and shoots it with range. She is able to get to rebounds, score over defenders and challenge shots effectively. Wrights debuts at #51.
