Legacy Classic: Jeremy’s Top 5 Performers (17U)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This weekend at the Legacy Classic I had the task of scouting the 16U and 17U levels. In my efforts, I saw a ton of prospects come onto the floor and do their thing. In this article I highlight my Top 5 performers of the weekend for the 17U level specifically. Larsen is someone out of Iowa, who has always displayed promise and a solid play-style but this weekend was different. She was clearly the best producer on her team in several different aspects and that helped lead her team to an undefeated record at 4-0. I had the chance to sit down and watch her Missouri Phaeton Iowa 2025 team compete a handful of times and every game, she stood out as the most productive player between both squads on the floor. How good was Larsen? Coming into this event, she had some collegiate interest but no one had pulled the trigger yet on giving her an offer. After one coach saw her compete on Saturday night, that coach approached Larsen and offered her on the spot because of just how good she had been performing throughout her day. I had the chance to see several prospects this weekend across all age groups and Larsen stood out as one of the best throughout everyone. Offensively, she was knocking down shots at high rate, demonstrating a picture perfect shot form from anywhere on the court and she was a teammate that was willing to pass when the opportunities presented themselves. Defensively, she was able to switch 1-4 and she crashed the boards hard every chance she could get, making her mark on both sides of the floor. I have a feeling this weekend is going to open up things in the recruiting world for her. Koupal stands at around 6'3 and she can shoot the leather off of the basketball. Whenever she sets up to let a shot go from any distance, it's a thing of beauty and that was on full display this weekend at this event. Koupal was one of the first prospects I sat down in the gym to watch and she blew me away. She has great size for her age, she doesn't mind being physical, she can shoot from any distance away from the hoop and it always looks like it's going in, and she is a willing passer when running in transition or off of the block whenever she catches. When taking everything into consideration, this may be my top prospect of the weekend as a whole. The things she demonstrated were Division-1 esk, per se. The only thing that I didn't see from her was a dominant post up game, which I'm sure she has buried somewhere in her arsenal. If she takes care of business in the paint, while being able to step out and spread the floor like I saw throughout this weekend, I'm sure that there would be a good amount of Power-5 programs that would want her services once she graduates high school. This Heiser Basketball program is a special one. They come from South Dakota and their coach, Blake Heiser, runs great action on both sides of the floor, while always staying positive it seems. When I had a chance to sit down and watch this team compete, Beale was someone that jumped out at myself and everyone else watching, almost right away. Prior to this event, I have watched Beale compete on the high school floor but she never really got a fair shot and after seeing what she did this weekend, that is even more obvious now because she can produce on both sides of the floor at a high rate. This weekend she was scoring from all three levels, taking her 1 on 1 matchups personally, she was defending in the full court and being a tyrant on that side of the basketball, and she was communicating at a high rate with her fellow teammates depending on the situation. This was one of those weekend for Beale that could change the outcome of her future as it pertains to competing at the collegiate level. She was getting some interest prior to this AAU season but as of recent, she has been competing on a whole other level. I didn't see one prospect that stepped up to completely shut her down this weekend and if they did happen to stop her, she usually adapted really well. Beale is not a natural PG but she has a nice handle and she does a fantastic job creating off of it. She is a strong driver and she shows determination in anything she is doing. I'm not sure of all the interest she is getting at the moment but I did see her connect with some collegiate coaches after her contests on Sunday. Jensen has that mixture that all coaches love to see. She has great size at 6'0, she has muscle mass and athleticism to pair along with that size, while also being extremely skilled in multiple aspects of the game. This is another individual that has a VERY bright future on the hardwood if she sticks with it. She is a Top rated prospect out of her home state for the 2025 Class and you can see why if you sit down to watch her compete for five minutes. I would describe her play-style as more of a Combo Guard, as she can move around and do several different things on the floor throughout a contest. In her games this weekend, she was racking up steals at an alarming rate, finishing in a number of different ways offensively all over the floor, and she was being a great teammate to the other prospects around her. She displayed that she can produce on or off of the ball and that she moves really well down the floor for her build. This is one of those prospects that has the u0022itu0022 factor. She makes high level plays and her decision making is always on point. To standout within this team that she is on is impressive. Wilson is someone that I've been able to see play for about a year now and every time I come back to watch her again, she has seemingly gotten better in some aspect of the game. This weekend Wilson stood out to everyone watching her Team Factory 2025 program compete. She was scoring from deep with her uniformed three point shot, she was getting into the paint and finishing through contact, and she was facilitator for others when the defense would try to double-team her throughout the duration of a contest. This is all the usual for Wilson if you understand her game and know how she plays. She competed and started on the Varsity floor this past Winter, putting up massive numbers for a prospect who was only a Freshman and it seems like she has taken that momentum into this AAU season. She is a Shooting Guard that stands at around 6'0 and she understands her strengths on both sides of the floor. My biggest question coming into this weekend for Wilson was on the defensive side of the ball but she showed me over the past few days that she can hold her own in that department as well. I had the chance to sit down and watch her team compete a few times while sitting with some college coaches and every time they all said the same thing. Wilson CAN HOOP. Plain and Simple. If she continues to get better as the years go on, she is going to be a hot commodity in the recruiting world out of the state of Nebraska. If this weekend was any indication of anything, she is going to continue to kill it.
