Continue ReadingLawson had a solid junior season for California and will be one of the top floor generals in the senior class next season. Players who understand the game at a high level and can pass like she does are far and few between. A difference maker with the ball. Her passing ability sets her apart from the pack. She’s a classic PG in that making the team better is her main focus. A fundamental player who hits her open shots and plays great man-to-man defense. Lawson is going to be a star for her team moving forward.
Like most in this program, Sticker has paid her dues the past two seasons and will step into a bigger role as an upperclassmen. She’s a player who always impressed with the minutes she was given. Her ability to fill a variety of roles is one of the main things that’s impressive. An unselfish wing who finds a nice balance of scoring and passing. Defense is an area where her effort level remains high at all times. Next year she’s going to be needed as a floor spacer and someone that can be versatile on defense. Her breakthrough is on the horizon following this summer.
It’s tough for a sophomore to impact winning in a major way. It’s also tough for one to lead their team in numerous statistical categories. That’s exactly what Newton did during her second season. A promising forward who has all the tools to truly become a star next year. Size… check. Motor… check. Athletic ability… check. She does all the things you look for in a forward prospect. Her level of play doesn’t drop over the course of a game and she has a high work rate. Newton has a lot of untapped potential that will shine through soon.
A player who continued to get better as the season went on. She was a big reason why this year’s Centralia team had success and made a deep run. Her ability to establish and control a presence on the wing is much needed. Players like herself who improve quickly are perfect candidates for this list. She’s going to be a household name in Class 3 if she isn’t already. A focused player who puts pressure on the defense with her relentless effort. She changed games this season and will do so even more next year.
