Here is a look at six athletes from Eastern Kansas schools who were among the second tier of top scorers in the Class of 2025. All six averaged double-digit scoring totals as juniors but were not among the unofficial top 10 scoring athletes from last season.
Saliyah Henderson-Johnson Saliyah Henderson-Johnson 5'6" | PG Arkansas City | 2025 State KS , 5’6”, CG, Arkansas City, ‘25
Henderson-Johnson can fill up a stat sheet. The Bulldog guard averaged 12. 1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 2.1 assists per contest in 21 games. The junior is a plus ball-handler and scores off the drive in the half-court. The Arkansas City prospect cashed in when she got to the free throw lines scoring 53 points from the line and shooting 63 percent.
Kirston Verhulst Kirston Verhulst 5'7" | PG Bishop Miege | 2025 State KS , 5’7”, G/F, Bishop Miege, ‘25
Verhulst is a two-sport prospect for the Stags. She scored 14.5 points per game in 22 contests for Bishop Miege. She also averaged 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. She is an outside hitter for Bishop Miege’s volleyball team. She was dangerous from the free throw line as a junior shooting 76 percent from the charity stripe.
Katy Mooney Katy Mooney 5'9" | CG Columbus | 2025 State KS , 5’6”, CG, Columbus, ‘25
Mooney is a three-sport athlete for the Titans. She scored at a 11.7 points per game clip. She also is a big factor for Columbus on defense. She averaged three steals and three-plus rebounds in 22 games last season. She also plays volleyball and softball for Columbus.
Landry O’Brien Landry O’Brien 5'8" | SG Labette County | 2025 State KS , 5’8”, F, Labette County, ‘25
I saw O’Brien play in the Class 4A State Tournament in Salina. She averaged 11.6 points per game for the Grizzlies. She also had a bulky stat line all-around with averages of 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 steals, and two assists per game. O’Brien is also an outside hitter and defensive specialist for the Labette County volleyball squad.
Lily Unruh Lily Unruh 5'7" | SG Blue Valley Southwest | 2025 KS , 5’7”, G/F, Blue Valley Southwest, ‘25
Unruh has a nice jump shot and scored 11.5 points per game for the Timberwolves as a junior. She also averaged 2.7 steals and 2.3 rebounds per game. She also plays softball for Blue Valley Southwest.
Isabella Major Isabella Major 5'10" | SG Pleasant Ridge | 2025 State KS , 5’10”, G/F, Pleasant Ridge, ‘25
Major is a three-sport prospect that I saw play volleyball and basketball during the current school year. She finished with an 11.5 scoring average in 22 games for the Rams. She also recorded 4.6 rebounds, two assists, and two steals. She is a small-school prospect with no idea how athletic she really is.
