Naveah Brooks
Naveah Brooks ’25 put together a great first weekend for TN SOL Black. Playing against top notch competition Brooks put up a 18 point, 6 rebound, 6 assist game showing the diversity that she really began displaying at the end of her high school season. She followed that up with a 15 point, 8 assists!, 3 rebound, and 5 steal performance on Saturday. I will always have an affinity for players that figure out how to impact winning in more ways than scoring. And fams–that’s what colleges want—kid’s that want to impact winning and don’t care about their scoring numbers.
Brooks playmaking ability was really impressive and her court vision was high than I knew. I really like her ceiling heading into her senior season.
Nesbit has been a ’25 wing on my radar for a year now as a kid with high-upside athleticism and size. She’s gritty, wins 50/50s, isn’t scared to get on the floor, and plays with a high-end motor. Her skill level has continuously improved through the years, and now she’s turning into more than just a premier defender. On Saturday she put on a show with a 16 point, 8 rebound, 4 steal, 4 assists performance that was a great display of both who she’s always been (an impactful defender and rebounder) with the ballplayer she’s developing into (a scorer and playmaker). Really liked the improvement she displayed this weekend.
Alexis Taylor Alexis Taylor 5’10” | PF Todd County Central | 2025 State KY seemed to be getting a bucket everytime I checked this weekend for TN SOL. 20 points. 11 points. 17 points. 16 points. And she did more than simply score–the kid had 13 rebounds vs TN Pride West (and 9! of those were offensive rebounds).
Playing with SOL this weekend, her skill set was on display in a big way. She’s a lights out shooting that’s working on adding layers of depth to her offensive game. She was attacking the rim with confidence, and making the correct reads based off the help. On Friday night she had a 14 point, 4 rebound game, and then exploded for 22 points on Saturday. Julia Varpness Julia Varpness 5’11” | SF Green Hill | 2025 State TN is primed for a breakout senior season if her early AAU results are any indication.
The KY product came down to TN and lit it up for ETA ’25 Sizemore. She averaged 13 points a game, with a 19 point 6 rebound game that was off the charts good. She’s a 5’10 SG with the size to be an impactful rebounder and defender, and already has a proven track record as a scorer for a state championship KY team. She’s continues to prove she’s the real deal.
Highlights
This kid is loaded with potential as an old-school, back to the basket big. She has soft hands, knows how to seal defenders and do her fighting for the spot early. Just a smart player when it comes to nuances and angles. Knows how to create passing angles vs fronts, 3/4, or behinds to setup scoring opportunities. Really nice touch around the rim that will only improve. Already a high level rebounder and alters tons of shots in the paint.
