These few lead guards should be able to elevate their game and their stock this grassroots season.
A player that is still developing but having a great shooting foundation really helps her. You need to locate her at all times because she will move well without the ball and light you up. Look for her to be a more improved ball handler which will make her tought o defend knowing that she can also shoot the ball at a high level.
Warren comes from a good basketball family and she is a player that will hit the ground running this Spring/Summer and you will see a lot of improvement from her that could help her move up the rankings.
Impact Point Guards
These players made an immediate impact on their teams as freshman and should continue that trend.
One of the few starting PG’s in the class at a 6A school that impacts the game with that true PG skill. She is a player that will keep that ball moving and get into the lane and make things happen. She has good vision one of the aspects of her game that does not get mentioned enough is that she plays hard and she rebound so well for a smaller PG. Look for her to continue to refine her skills and really solidifying her next level talent this spring/summer.
De La Cerna made a recent move to West Jordan where she will be able to step in and use her experience to take over that role as lead guard. She has a very chill pace to her game and she uses that to quickly change gears. She is stronger than you think and she has all the right moves to get open in the paint. She shoots it well and she will likely get a lot of open looks on this team and if she can really hit those catch and shoot three’s she will be a big time imapct player.
Keep An Eye On
Here are a few players you need to keep an eye out for.
Corner Canyon had a fantastic season this past year and they were heavy at the guard position but Yeomans has game, she will be a player that gets in there and should be able to pick up minutes and produce. Keep an eye on her.
When called upon Jerzi came in and did her thing on a team that needed an additional scoring punch. Her ability to score the ball should really flourish this spring/summer and you will see that product on the floor during the high school season.
