Arias captured my attention by doing several things instinctively while playing up, she’s a 2030 and going behind the back with the ball in traffic as well as off the dribble to attack the basket had me smiling. She has good court vision to go along with solid ball handling and her body control on her finishes tells me she won’t be finished as she will continue to put more on the table
Highlights
Knowles was another player playing up, 2029, and she has good height to go with being “long and athletic” which is and always will be the base, I enjoyed her going AFTA the ball off the rim, on both ends. She did a good job defending, her timing was also nice as she altered some shots, I didn’t see all her games but the blocking and deflecting will be coming, plus she scored off the dribble
Highlights
Aubrey Coleman
Aubrey Coleman
Coleman gets the cover photo, it’s blurry and in black and white but I chose that photo for a reason because pretty soon, her game will become crystal clear. She has the size, probably over “the magic number” which is 6’0 and also falls into that “long and athletic” group yet on opening day, she did a good job of controlling the paint, on both ends, by rebounding, defending and showing she could score. On day 2, she attacked and scored from the wing, showed the short pull-up and her lateral movement was also nice as she defended from the perimeter
A’Layna Hawkins
A’Layna Hawkins
Hawkins is an athletic guard who uses her athleticism on both ends and understanding how to do that at this stage will payoff big down the road. She applied pressure on the defensive end and forced the offensive player to pick up their dribble yet on the flip, she attacked strongly off the dribble to dish or finish after contact. To add more fuel to the fire that’s showing sparks, her pull-up jumper was nice
Mahalia Issac
Mahalia Issac
Issac is a heady guard that does a good job of playing within herself and understanding how to get hers “in the flow” but what she also understands is how to set the defender up by creating her shot. Her deceptive first step got the defender off balance, this helped her attack off the dribble yet also showed she could knock it down from outside and her “catch and shoot” from deep was really nice
Tiana Wilson
Tiana Wilson
Wilson was yet another athletic guard who showed she could bring IT on both ends of the court. Here’s something that’s going to benefit her as she progresses in a major way because she’s not only fast, but fast with the ball and I use the acronym SWB, speed with ball, because with her court vision, she’ll be able to hit teammates for good looks. She also has a nice first step in the set to score off the dribble
