Jalyn Johnson
Jalyn Johnson
Johnson is heady as well as crafty yet just as important, she plays within herself and doesn’t force anything. Well that’s sort of true because she did a good job defensively and helped force turnovers. She also used a deceptive first step to attack the basket and score, plus she dropped the midrange
Nancy Galvan
Nancy Galvan
Galvan continues to show me progression after catching her a few times this season and I’m thinking her upside to go along with she already does. Her shot selection is good, she’s patient and her slight HEZ helped her attack the basket from multiple angles and she showed she could drop it from outside
Johnson has some scary upside to go along with being a #sizedontmatter guard and let me start with like BONECRUSHER and myself, she ain’t “NEVER SCARED” . I have watched her take hard licks and bounce back like nothing happened yet she makes things happen on both ends of the court see evaluation here
Adriana Liscano
Adriana Liscano
Liscano sold me off the top when she dove on the floor for a loose ball, yeah I love #THROWBACK stuff but she has a plenty from yesteryear and falls into my “never takes a play off” type of player. Her “on the ball” pressure will create problems over the next few years, she scored off the dribble and also dropped the midrange jumper
Sernity Bilsing
Sernity Bilsing
Bilsing was another player I have seen growth on the court from in a short time and one thing I know is when players are being developed and comprehending what is being taught. I love her upside for another of reasons starting with her “poise under pressure” and being able to attack the basket while being defended tightly was one thing, showing she could drop the midrange with a hand in her face was another
Brooke Hopkins
Brooke Hopkins
Hopkins is a “long and athletic” guard which also falls into what I call the base and watching her slice by the defender from the wing to score off the dribble was nice yet even nicer was her creating her shot while under pressure and knocking it down from outside while being tightly defended. She also showed court vision and has good upside
Kate Hopkins
Kate Hopkins
Hopkins had me scratching my head because I thought I was seeing double but she’s Brooke’s twin so I was actually seeing “double-trouble” a coming. I have a way with words, she has a way with getting the defender off balance with slight fakes to attack the basket and finish after contact. She is also “long and athletic” and showed she could knock it down from midrange with ease
Meriah Spiller
Meriah Spiller
Spiller is feisty and her eagerness on defense had me smiling because she had a knack for being around the ball and doing simple things like breaking up plays. As much as I enjoyed her defensive pressure, she gave me a glimpse of her offensive game showing she could attack the basket and score as well as drop the jumper from outside
Kynnedi Heslip
Kynnedi Heslip
Heslip is doing some impressive things pre high school but lead me lead with she’s an athletic guard who uses her athleticism well on both ends. Her “on the ball” pressure was more than solid, her attacking the basket using an impressive first step was also a big plus, yet so was her body control on her finishes. She saw the floor VERY WELL and speaking of lead, she led the players with the ball to score, that is THAT !
Iyanah Smith
Iyanah Smith
Smith was “THE BABY” out of everyone and I just realized she was the youngest player in attendance yet I never would have imagined it. She also used her athletic ability on both ends, nice baseline to baseline pressure as well as tough defense in the set. She also has a deceptive first step to attack but uses it to create spacing to drop her jumper from outside. I’m closing this one with a hashtag, #sizedontmatter when you can play, she can play and has some very solid upside
