On a weekend where the local talent was on full display at the Hoop Group NJ Showcase at Total Turf in Pitman, NJ, these young ladies caught my attention with their Day 2 performances.

Aneri McGalla - Lady Runnin Rebels 16U HGSL

Aneri is a versatile offensive player. She can shoot the 3 with range and gets it off quickly. She showed a good pull-up game and was comfortable up top with the ball in her hands. She has a strong frame and moves well without the ball. Defensively, she used her strong frame when guarding the post. She was physical on the catch and blocked several shots. She guarded tight on the ball on the perimeter and was clearly the catalyst at both ends for her Lady Runnin Rebels HGSL squad.

[player_tooltip player_id='782582' first='Morgan' last='Kottka'] - United NJ 17U Select

Morgan did a little bit of everything this weekend. Her scrappiness on the interior is the 1st thing that stuck out. Defensively, she is physical inside, attacks rebounds and contests shots. She does a good job of quickly delivering outlet passes. She is not afraid to get on the floor and fight for the ball and sets strong screens for her teammates. She scored with her back to the basket, at the 3-point line and in the mid-range game while also cleaning up the offensive glass.

[player_tooltip player_id='559817' first='Brooke' last='Missry'] - [program_tooltip program_id='714654' first='NJ' last='Shoreshots'] 16U HGSL

Brooke is extremely versatile. She plays with her back the basket, spots up at the 3-point line, handles the ball all while being a great decision maker offensively. She showed her versatility all weekend. She knows when to attack the rim, draw contact, and finish and when to keep the offense running. She didn't appear to rely on one aspect of her offensive repertoire making her a tough mark for opposing defenses. Defensively, she guarded multiple positions and was a key contributor on the boards.

[player_tooltip player_id='525416' first='Makayla' last='Williams'] - United NJ 17U Select

Makayla does a great job attacking the rim in the halfcourt and in transition. She takes good angles and uses her strength to finish thru contact. She is a hard worker on the defensive and her energy and length allow her to wreak havoc when guarding in the backcourt as part of the United NJ pressure. She has a solid jumper as part of her offensive arsenal and can shoot the 3. She also showed a very good ability to get in the lane with the ball and make some good interior passes when her shot wasn't available.
