There are some new faces on the high school scene in Louisiana. While the class of 2028 begins their high school careers, many sophomores are getting their first tastes of varsity play. The JSE team camp and the Monday play days at Parkway have introduced a lot of these new players to the public. In this review of players to watch, we will take a look at sophomores and freshmen you need to know as June comes to a close.

Lyric Gay (Carroll | 2027)- The Carroll point guard is like a blur on the court. She is as fast as they come when it comes to changing ends of the floor. Gay is very good at putting her head down and getting down hill. When she gets into the paint, she usually finds a teammate for a layup. Gay makes it easy for her teammates to finish at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='943325' first='Kaylie' last='Dupree'] (Huntington | 2027) - Dupree is one of the more imposing players in northwest Louisiana. She is a player who protects the rim and rebounds the ball well. Dupree is very good on the offensive backboards and often gets putbacks. Her athleticism, length, and speed make her a key player in the Lady Raider success.

Serenity Singleton (White Castle | 2027) - White Castle will win a lot of games with Singleton in the post. She moves better than people think and Singleton is very good at sealing defenders on the block. When she catches the ball, you might as well count those two. Singleton is good in the paint and will only get better.

[player_tooltip player_id='943345' first='Kadyn' last='Green'] (Walker | 2027) - Green is one of the more polished players that I have seen this summer. Offensively, she is very good at the mid-range shot, rebounding, and handling the ball. Green can face up and blow by or use her length to shoot over defenders. Her mechanics are very good. Fundamentally sound is what she is. Kadyn has a very high ceiling.

[player_tooltip player_id='1227739' first='Angelica' last='Green'] (Ruston | 2027) - Angelica plays aggressively within the structure of what her coach wants the team to do and it pays off. Green is very good defensively and can create turnovers whether trapping or playing someone straight up. She can also get downhill to the cup quickly. Green is a handful on the court. A very good two way player.

[player_tooltip player_id='1001504' first='Joslyn' last='Martin'] (Captain Shreve | 2028) - As a freshman, Martin will make an immediate impact for the Lady Gators. She is a player who hustles for every 50/50 ball she can get to. On the glass (especially the offensive glass), she is very hard to stop. While no plays are run for her, she is going to score in the paint via putbacks. She is a difference maker on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='946180' first='Shiloh' last='Brokenberry'] (Captain Shreve | 2028) - Coach Green has thrust Shiloh into primary ball-handling duties. While she has had some struggles, you can see the skill and talent she possesses. Brokenberry has a dependable and accurate jumper. She also has a very good shot fake which allows he to score in the mid-range and paint. Shiloh may take some bumps now but I think it will pay off in the end.

These players are just some of the fantastic sophomores and freshmen that Louisiana has. If the underclassmen around the state perform like the ones above, Louisiana will be just fine.
