Progression, progression, progression and fortunately I had rosters. Remember something I call common sense, which isn't so common anymore. When I'm covering a CONDENSED event and I don't get the common courtesy to have a roster turned in, I keep it moving, it's not hurting me so if I miss you at a LARGE event, especially when you had your chance, it's on you and I keep saying this over and over but here ya go

Makenzie Haynes-5'8 G (Cy Falls) [program_tooltip program_id='715346' first='Houston' last='United'] Bobby [2025]

Haynes has steadily shown progression every chance I had to see her and her understanding of how to apply heat, on both ends was certainly refreshing. Her baseline-to-baseline pressure helped create turnovers, she also defended well in the set, yet she scored off the dribble nicely

[player_tooltip player_id='1058050' first='Jasmine' last='Lee']-5'6 G (Cy Woods) [program_tooltip program_id='715936' first='Dash' last='Elite'] 2025 [2025]

Lee recently grabbed my attention at the Peggy Whitley Classic and I was even more impressed with her using her athleticism on both ends. She finished strongly after contact, body control was nice, and so was her "on the ball" defense

Kierra Graves-5'6 G (Cy Ridge) [program_tooltip program_id='715936' first='Dash' last='Elite'] 2025 [2025]

Graves was another athletic guard who did a good job of not only defending on the ball, in the set as well as in transition, but scoring off the dribble and finishing after contact. Her pull-up jumper in the set was nice, she also showed she could drop the "stop and pop"

Abigail Galvan-5'5 G (Bishop Lynch) A1 Sauce 2026 [2026]

Galvan was crafty with the ball and understood how to create her shot and separation to get her shot off. Her deceptive first step enabled her to get the defender leaning so she could attack the basket and she showed she could drop the 3 ala "catch and shoot"

Emily Ickert-5'7 G (Trinity Christian Academy) DFW 16U Hawks King [2026]

Ickert also kept the defender guessing by either using a slight HEZ to go by them and score off the dribble yet if they played her too tightly, she could drop the jumper. She also showed she could knock it down from deep, this included the "catch and shoot" while being defended

Alaina Hill-5'9 G/F (Rudder) Team Texas Flames 17U National [2025]

Hill is a "long and athletic" guard who plays taller than she is and watching her outrebound and score over taller players was a plus, as was her attacking from the wing and finishing strongly after the lick. She defended in and outside the paint, showed the jumper and saw the floor

Shani Johnson-5'10 G/F (Little Elm) [program_tooltip program_id='712952' first='Texas' last='Elite'] Choice [2025]

Johnson grabbed my attention years ago and since she's a long and athletic guard, which is the base, her intangibles are she rebounds, on both ends, scores off the dribble, drops the jumper, and plays the passing lane. Her defense is solid, nice timing to block shots, and so is her court vision

[player_tooltip player_id='884407' first='Taylor' last='Hines']-5'2 G (Chaparral) [program_tooltip program_id='715857' first='United' last='Lady Elite'] NXT PUMA [2027]

Hines falls into that #sizedontmatter category because she can play and after catching her years ago, one thing I can say is that heat on defense has become hotter. She's also scoring and finishing after contact better yet she understands how to control the tempo and has good court vision

[player_tooltip player_id='884410' first='Tori' last='Hines']-5'2 G (Chaparral) [program_tooltip program_id='715857' first='United' last='Lady Elite'] NXT PUMA [2027]

Hines like her twin is a #sizedontmatter guard who can play. I also caught her in that same event a while back and their growth, on and off the court, has them in the mix. She defends baseline to baseline strongly, scores off the dribble, and even showed she could "catch and shoot" from deep
