Breakout players are always fun to see, especially in this type of setting where next-level coaches can observe for themselves, on opening day, I got around pretty well so let me guide you on players I already knew that showed on the court progression from either seeing them on the PGH Circuit or other events that I covered this season

Catelyn Lee-5'2 G (Cy Springs) [program_tooltip program_id='715346' first='Houston' last='United'] Bobby [2025]

Lee is an athletic guard that did a good job attacking the basket and finishing yet her athleticism on the flip was also nice as she showed quick hands to go along with on the ball pressure and came away with steals

Kyra Rosencran-5'8 -5'8 G (Caney Creek) [program_tooltip program_id='715346' first='Houston' last='United'] Bobby [2025]

Rosecran is one of those "plays taller than she is" type players and her understanding positioning helped her outrebound players above her height, she also kept the ball high and showed the turnaround jumper inside the paint

Kendall Hitchens-5'6 G (Legacy The School Of Sports Sciences) [program_tooltip program_id='715936' first='Dash' last='Elite'] 2025 [2025]

Hitchens is a BATTLER and falls into that "never takes a play off" group. She goes after the ball off the rim, in the air and even on the floor yet she's powerful off the dribble and finishes after contact. Her pull-up jumper is also nice

[player_tooltip player_id='486464' first='Kaydence' last='Daniels']-5'3 PG (Boswell) [program_tooltip program_id='712952' first='Texas' last='Elite'] Choice [2026]

Daniels made my Tip Sheet at the PGH Freshman Showcase a couple of seasons ago so I was pleasantly surprised at her progression. She understands how to control the tempo, court vision across the board is even better, so is her jumper but her "on the ball" defense has also shot up

Saiahna Blue-5'8 G (Travis) [program_tooltip program_id='712538' first='Houston' last='Dream'] [2026]

Blue is an athletic guard who brought heat on both ends of the court. Her first step is nice as she can attack and score or dish off the dribble yet her on the ball pressure was solid as she created havoc which helped to create turnovers. She also created her shot and dropped it from outside

Ashlyn Lemos-5'7 PG (East Bernard) [program_tooltip program_id='712538' first='Houston' last='Dream'] [2026]

Lemos gave me the HEZ numerous times and THAT helped get the defender off balance so she could go by them. She finished after contact, she saw the floor in the set as well as in transition and she showed she could knock it down from outside. Defense was solid as well

[player_tooltip player_id='404749' first='Karrington' last='Jackson']-5'4 PG (Frisco Reedy) [program_tooltip program_id='715690' first='DC' last='Queens'] Black 2025 [2025]

Jackson has been in front of me since elementary school and watching her over the years taking her game to different height has been a treat. She's an athletic guard who understands how to run her squad and get everyone involved yet don't get it twisted because she can take over a game by scoring

[player_tooltip player_id='782590' first='Addison' last='Hodge']-5'5 CG (Sasche) [program_tooltip program_id='715690' first='DC' last='Queens'] Black 2025 [2026]

Hodge showed she could play the 1 or 2 as hercourt vision across the board was solid, so was her ballhandling under pressure. She scored off the dribble, created separation to get her jumper off yet her defense "on the ball" and playing the passing lane had me smiling

[player_tooltip player_id='877943' first='Amaiya' last='Mendez']-5'6 SG (Carrolton Creekview) [program_tooltip program_id='715690' first='DC' last='Queens'] Black 2025 [2025]

Mendez filled in many blanks for her squad and showed she could get hers in the flow. She patiently set the defender up to attack the basket, she also created her shot and was able to drop it while being defended yet her ability to "catch and shoot" from mid to long-range was another plus

[player_tooltip player_id='782632' first='Taylor' last='Granger']-5'10 SF (Mabank) God's Way 2025 [2025]

Granger is a couple of inches shy of "the magic number" yet used her frame inside the paint as if she was 6'0. Watching her rebound, as well as run the floor, also on both ends, was nice. She did a good job defending on the inside yet her scoring around the basket, putbacks included

[player_tooltip player_id='509672' first='Kyla' last='Williams']-5'6 CG (Red Oak) God's Way 2025 [2026]

Williams was yet another athletic guard who did a good job of using her athleticism on both ends of the court. Her baseline to baseline pressure was tight, so was her defense in the set but she also showed she could score attacking the basket or dropping the "stop and pop" jumper in transition
