Closing out day 1 with these talented young ladies

Wila Davis-5'4 G (Frankston) [program_tooltip program_id='753360' first='Texas' last='Elite East Texas Spurs'] 17U Gold [2025]

Davis falls into that #sizedontmatter group because she can play and when you factor in she's also athletic and does a good job of using her athleticism on both ends, those are pluses. She defends "on the ball" both in the set as well as in the full court and she scores off the dribble, court vision is also nice

[player_tooltip player_id='1279690' first='Markayla' last='Tate']-5'10 G (Gilmer) [program_tooltip program_id='753360' first='Texas' last='Elite East Texas Spurs'] 17U Gold [2027]

Tate is a "long and athletic" guard, which is also the base and she does a good job on defense in the set, as well as inside the paint where she also showed she could rebound, on both ends. She has good timing and had players changing their shots, she scored around the basket as well as off the dribble

Tessa Reeves-5'2 G (Douglas) [program_tooltip program_id='753360' first='Texas' last='Elite East Texas Spurs'] 17U Gold [2025]

Reeves also falls into that #sizedontmatter group and if you guessed that she could play, you're right which is how she took defenders off the dribble and showed nice body control on her finishes but she also showed she could drop it from outside, "catch and shoot" from deep included. She also did a good job defensively

Nhira Nadgonde-5'8 G (Coppell) Lee Green Basketball [2026]

Nadgonde did a good job defending "on the ball" in transition as well as in the set yet watching her playing the passing lane a few times had me smiling because I love seeing players do that. She also scored off the dribble and her court vision was solid

Ellie Lee-5'10 F (SA Macarthur) [program_tooltip program_id='716017' first='Gold' last='Mamba'] [2026]

Lee is an athletic guard who did a good job of using her athleticism on both ends and let me start with her defensive pressure baseline to baseline. She also did a good job guarding her man in the halfcourt yet watching her take a few charges was nice, and so was her body control on her finishes as she attacked the basket to score

Aayla Jones-5'8 F (Rudder) Aggieland [2025]

Jones uses her frame around the basket nicely on both ends and although she doesn't stand at "the magic number" she plays as if she is which has me dropping the #THROWBACK hashtag. I was tickled to see her using the "hands and footwork" to score against taller players, yeah it still works plus her interior defense as well as rebounding were also solid

Lorelai Garcia-5'4 G (College Station) Aggieland [2024]

Garcia was yet another #sizedontmatter guard who did a good job on both ends of the court. Her defensive pressure across the board was nice, and so was her court vision yet she also used a deceptive first step to attack the basket, with either hand and score

Sadie Gough-5'6 G (Trinity Christian) [program_tooltip program_id='715076' first='DFW' last='Hawks'] 16U King [2026]

Gough patiently set the defender up to attack and score off the dribble, slight HEZ played a part in it yet her body control helped her finish off balance and at times, after the lick. She also created her shot under pressure but she also created spacing to get it off and her "catch and shoot" 3 was also nice
