This took me back to when I first started covering Texas, one more time I am the first, and my primary purpose was to focus on finding talented players, why, because #thalentiseverywhere if you know what you're looking at. Who else looks at players from the 3rd grade on and gives an honest evaluation, I mean Brooke McCarty, Dalana Carter, Courtney Williams just t name a few were in elementary school when I dropped #D1Lock on them. I also knew my daughter, Sydney Colson, would one when the nurse slapped at birth and she slapped er back, more than a decade in the WNBA shows how right I was but always remember #ThereIsNoMe

The [program_tooltip program_id='956243' first='Corpus' last='Christi Aces'] are filled with 2031-32 players that I'll be saying a lot about over the years but before I get into that, here are some of the Top Performers from this division

Jaylah Gatica ([program_tooltip program_id='956243' first='Corpus' last='Christi Aces'])

Gatica showed me a whole lot in a short span of time and not only does she attack the basket strongly, she finishes powerfully yet one play, her spin move going full speed, dropped the mic. She has nice pull-up jumper, her court vision and defense are both solid and she not only rebounded, on both ends, she also played the passing lane

Montivas ([program_tooltip program_id='956243' first='Corpus' last='Christi Aces'])

Montivas is a "long and athletic" guard who not only scored off the dribble, first step is nice, but dished off the dribble. She also saw the floor in the set as well as the open court yet I have to go back to er finishes because her body control is ahead of her years. She did a good defending and payed the passing lane

Alina Nava ([program_tooltip program_id='956243' first='Corpus' last='Christi Aces'])

Nava set the defender up nicely using a deceptive first step to attack the basket and her body control is going to be an issue as she gets older and stronger because she stays with it, even after contact. She hits the boards, handled the ball after ward and saw the floor in transition, as well as in the set

Nolah Huerta ([program_tooltip program_id='956243' first='Corpus' last='Christi Aces'])

Huerta falls into that #sizedontmatter group I love to hashtag because she can play. She did a little bit of everything, her "on the ball" pressure was nice, so was her reading the defense and playing the passing lane. She tools the slyness in her first step to get the defender off balance so she can attack plus her court vision was also a plus

Blessing Kazadi (Comets) 2031

Kazadi is "long and athletic" which will always be the base and although she's raw in several aspects, watching her react and do things instinctively, combined with her probably reaching "the magic number" since she's heading to just the 6th grade speaks volumes, you gotta trust me on this, I'm an expert. She comprehends the simple things, that will turn out to be big, we'll revisit what I wrote down the road so I can drop my famous " I TOLD YOU SO"

#34 Grizzlies

Another #sizedontmatter guard who left me speechless with her energy alone yet she has a very nice first step to blow by defenders and seeing her use some overly impressive moves en route to the rim had m smiling. Her court vision off the dribble, in the set as well as in transition were all nice, so was "on the ball" pressure and when you add the fact that she's fearless, diving for loose balls, well ...
