Elite Scorers in North Coast Section : Class of 2027

The 2023-2024 season showcased just how dangerous the North Coast Section is when it comes to scoring, and even more impressively, a number of those top scorers were freshmen. Now entering their sophomore year, it's time to spotlight the standout players to watch—both in the paint and beyond the arc—who are leading the scoring charge from the Class of 2027.    Shi is expected to continue her impressive scoring output in her second high school season. Standing at 5'4", the freshman guard demonstrated remarkable offensive ability last year, racking up 459 points and averaging 17.7 points per game. Despite her smaller stature, Shi consistently attacked the lane, earning trips to the free-throw line where she converted 61% of her attempts. Her accuracy inside the arc was notable, with a 50% shooting percentage on two-point field goals. Additionally, she knocked down 60 three-pointers last season, and further developing this long-range skill could make her an even more formidable scorer in the upcoming year.     Patterson emerged as an elite scorer and all-around athlete during her freshman season. Standing at 5'9", she plays as a versatile combo guard, capable of excelling in every aspect of the game. However, it's her scoring prowess that truly sets her apart. Patterson averaged 16.3 points per game, racking up an impressive 490 points at the varsity level. Her shooting from beyond the arc was stellar, hitting 45% of her three-pointers, with 47 made throughout the season. She was equally reliable at the free-throw line, converting 72% of her attempts, with 75 free throws made. Inside the arc, she maintained a 60% field goal percentage, showcasing her efficiency. With the ability to score from all areas of the court, Patterson is definitely a player to watch as her high school career progresses.     Scott had an outstanding freshman season, averaging an impressive 11.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game—essentially a double-double every night. A dominant scoring presence under the rim, she's sure to be a key player to watch as she enters her sophomore season. While not known for shooting beyond the arc, Scott is highly reliable inside, converting 46% of her 254 attempts. As she continues to develop her game, there's potential for her to expand her range and become an even more versatile scoring threat.     Competing in 34 varsity games last season, Bertand performed admirably, averaging 9.0 points per game as a freshman. She demonstrated her ability to shoot from long range, knocking down 30 three-pointers throughout the season. Additionally, she made her mark inside the arc, successfully converting 97 two-pointers and maintaining a solid 55% shooting percentage from the free-throw line. As a freshman, Bertand played a crucial role in holding the team together, and we can anticipate her continuing to contribute significantly—and perhaps even more—in her sophomore year.     Lastly, we spotlight Braden, an athlete who made a commendable impact during her freshman year on the varsity squad, averaging 8.4 points per game. She contributed a total of 201 points throughout the season, showcasing her athletic talent. Of those points, 14 came from three-pointers, 61 from two-pointers, and 37 from free-throws. Braden demonstrated accuracy across the board, particularly at the free-throw line, where she achieved a solid 74% shooting percentage. As she enters her sophomore season, there is potential for Braden to elevate her game significantly, making her a player to watch in the Class of 2027.
