We have three days' worth of teams to highlight still from the PGH Freshman Showcase. Today, we'll discuss Team Eight and highlight what each player did well last week.

[player_tooltip player_id='992500' first='Kate' last='Schutte']

Younger talent coming to Pewaukee may take some time to see varsity minutes due to the abundance of talent in the Pirates program. However, Schutte has a skillset to work with that she can build her game from. She's a physical wing that wants to attack the basket from the perimeter. Schutte powered her way to the basket against guards who tried to keep her in front of them. I also thought she showed some ability to handle the ball against pressure.

[player_tooltip player_id='992482' first='Allie' last='Neuenfeldt']

One of the names I did know heading into the event was [player_tooltip player_id='992482' first='Allie' last='Neuenfeldt']. The De Pere guard played up last summer with an uber-talented [program_tooltip program_id='715882' first='Wisconsin' last='Flight Elite'] 15U group that went undefeated in the league phase of EYBL. I'd heard that Neuenfeldt was one of the most athletic kids in her class, and that checked out when she played her peers in Appleton. She was faster and more physical than anyone who guarded her in the game I saw her play, and she controlled the game with the ball. I loved her aggression and willingness to force the issue when she had mismatches.

[player_tooltip player_id='888379' first='Layla' last='Walz']

I've talked about a few guards from events that displayed their length in the backcourt, and the 5'7 Wisconsin Lutheran guard is another one. Walz used her length well on the defensive end of the floor and made life miserable for opposing guards. She was involved in everything even when she didn't have the ball in her hands, which tracks how [player_tooltip player_id='855854' first='Morgan' last='Martinez'], another Wisconsin Lutheran newcomer, performed in Appleton. Walz also knocked down a fair amount of three-pointers, which also helped.

[player_tooltip player_id='992498' first='Jordan' last='Maselter']

If someone had told me that one of the best offensive rebounders I'd see in Appleton was a 5'5 guard, I'd have probably laughed the rest of the day. However, the main thing I boldened in my notes was how well Maselter rebounded the ball on the offensive end of the floor. I'm sure there's more to her offensive game than she showed, but with the talent on her team, there weren't many shots available. Maselter's ability to rebound is valuable as a guard. Her motor was evident, and the Sun Prairie West guard crashed the boards repeatedly. If that indicates what she does, we'll be talking about her again at some point.

[player_tooltip player_id='989291' first='Adalyn' last='Graff']

An Appleton East product, Graff was a fundamentally sound guard who made the right play more often than not. She knocked down open shots when the ball swung her way, attacked the rim with force, didn't shy away from contact, filled lanes correctly in transition offense, and rebounded well for a guard. Graff may not be the most physically talented kid in the gym, but the Patriot is one of the smartest and knows how to help her team win games. She'll end up with one of the better varsity careers among everyone there when it's said and done.
