We have liftoff! These 3A 2025 Bigs are reaching for the stars

Having a good post player in high school basketball is so important, especially at the 3A level. Whether they are an all-conference performer or just a dominant player, these are some senior bigs who will have huge impacts in 2024/25.    Lamar High School is stocked with talent, especially with their guard and forward groups. The starting center position is locked down too, as [player_tooltip player_id='1049429' first='Madison' last='Davidson'] makes her presence felt on offense, defense, and on the boards.   Davidson may not have the most ideal height for a center, but that does not seem to matter. She has solid athleticism and a long reach, which allow her to fly in and snatch up a board. Double-digit rebounding nights are commonplace for Davidson, and she does equal damage on the defensive and offensive glass. She records plenty of second-chance points for herself and she sets up opportunities for her teammates   On defense, Davidson's shot-blocking is a game-changer. She is patient and times her block attempts well. Davidson can cause chaos in the paint, and with her tall standing reach, opponents are forced into contested shots or to pass out to the perimeter.   Offensively, Davidson is an efficient post-finisher. Her game is almost exclusively in the paint, but she can finish through contact and catches every pass to set herself up for easy baskets. She also has the makings of a baby hook that she has used when she is more than a couple of feet away from the basket.   [player_tooltip player_id='1049429' first='Madison' last='Davidson'] is a great two-way center who dominates the glass. Look out for Davidson and Lamar in 2024/25.     [player_tooltip player_id='1056367' first='Kate' last='Stiffler'] is a phenomenal defender! She is able to make huge impacts with her superior post protection and with her ability to cause turnovers. Stiffler could very well be one of the best defensive-minded bigs in the 3A classification, so expect a big year from her.   Stiffler's offense is fairly limited. Her biggest impact on that side centers in the painted-area, but she does usually end up scoring just over double-digits most games. Defensively however, that is where Stiffler is at her best.   Stiffler can contest and block shots equally well. She has great footwork and can keep her opponent in front of her on their way to the basket. Stiffler gives them just enough room to try to shoot, but she then denies their shot. Stiffler is great on help defense, hustling from one side of the paint to the other to swat shots away. She can also block jump shots and shut down the passing lanes.   [player_tooltip player_id='1056367' first='Kate' last='Stiffler'] is one of the most influential defenders in the 3A classification, and she is Bismarck's anchor on that side. Again, expect big things from Stiffler this season.     There are not a lot of 3&D centers in high school basketball, especially not at this level. Paris High School has one though. Preslee Bowman is an intriguing player who was an all-conference honorable mention last season. She looks to build off of that successful junior campaign in 2024/25.   Bowman hits the 3-ball well. She can knock it down from the corner, wing, and top of the key. Bowman has a quick release, but her arch is a bit low. Her shots are straight on, but that does not seem to hinder her ability to knock it down from beyond the arch.   On defense, Bowman has shown the ability to block shots and record plenty of steals. She has active hands and she capitalizes on loose balls, giving her team extra offensive opportunities. Bowman's shot-blocking is very impactful as well. She has good timing on her blocks and makes scoring in the paint a tough task for the opposition. Bowman is also a solid rebounder.   Preslee Bowman can make plays on both sides of the ball, and Paris will need that if they hope for a strong season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1049435' first='Jenny' last='Scott'] might just be the best offensive player on this list. Scott uses her great footwork to her advantage and is a star for Perryville High School. Scott is one of the best post players in 3A, and Ecclesia College has recognized that, offering her over the summer. As far as I can tell, that is her only offer, but with a strong senior season, that will not be the only offer for long.   Scott's footwork is incredibly advanced for a player in 3A, and more advanced than some of the best bigs in higher classifications in the state. She has a fantastic step-through shot where she is able to find space around a defender and finish with both hands. On her step throughs, she can also finish with a floater/runner (also with both hands). Scott finishes through contact extremely well, and she uses reverse layups throughout the course of a game. She can also stretch her offense out to the 3-point line, where she has shown that when left open, she can drain threes.   On defense, Scott makes her presence felt in the paint by being a frustrating shot-blocker. Scott gets off the ground quickly to swat shots away. She can also come from the help-side and smack balls away, too.   [player_tooltip player_id='1049435' first='Jenny' last='Scott'] is a star for Perryville, and if they want to have a big year in the 3A classification, their offense should be run through her. Keep an eye on [player_tooltip player_id='1049435' first='Jenny' last='Scott'] in 2024/25.     [player_tooltip player_id='1051632' first='Antaniya' last='Davis'] is practically a positionless basketball player. I consider Davis to be a center, but she is also a power forward, a small forward, and possibly even a shooting guard. Regardless, Davis is a superstar just ready to blossom.   Davis' offensive game is mostly perimeter centric, as she has a great handle for her position and uses her quickness to get to the spots she wants. She can knock down the 3-ball, but she is much better at shooting in the mid-range area. Davis can hit short jumpers from along the baseline, almost always from off the dribble. Frankly, it does not matter where she shoots it from within the arch, Davis is knocking down those shots at a high rate. Davis is also a fantastic finisher in the post, where she uses solid footwork and great pump fakes to find ways to score.   Defensively, Davis is at her best blocking shots. She has no problem blocking shots with force and making the defense think twice about driving into the paint. She also grabs loads of boards on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.   [player_tooltip player_id='1051632' first='Antaniya' last='Davis'] has already received offers from John A. Logan College and Rend Lake Community College, but if she has the senior year I think she will have, then expect even more offers.    In the 3A classification, size is sometimes hard to find. However, these players take up a lot of space in the post, and they make massive impacts for their teams. That concludes the 3A 2025 segment, so now on to 2A!
